Aw dang. Loseing a pet that you've had for a long time is hard to deal with. I feel for ya man. At least Blot gave you many happy memories, which is what matters most.

I am very sorry to hear that Scott.

As many have said losing a pet is a very hard thing to go through, especially if you and your pet are close.

:( You have my sympathy. I know how hard it is to make that decision. We will see them again though... and they will be just like they were before they got sick.

Aye.

Also "Blot" has to be one of the more creative names for a black-colored dog I've heard, heh. :D

Im sorry about Blot. :( Im sure she was a good dog. But just know that she was better because your wife took her in. Your wife sounds like a very lovely person-an animal rescuer! Thats the best kind of person there is.

Blot had a happy life, according to your note. She was kept from having to endure mmore and more pain. She was loved, and is missed.
Her life was a good one, and her Human companions kept the Promise: Love and dedication in return for care and support.
You did that.
Be happy, not sad; only the parts that were never alive "died"/ were euthanized. The part that was alive still is.
My condolences for your pain, but remember, she lives on in your memory of her.

My heart goes out to you Scott. But, knowing that you loved so much and that she was loved so much, will always stay with you, Cathy, and Blot.

I am a veterinary technician and as such we view euthanasia as a final gift of love. However, with your permission, I would like to steal how you worded it in your story. "Grant." Beautiful!

With sympathy in your loss...

By all means, permission is given. It took a while to think of how to describe it without making it sound as if it were something we eagerly rushed to do or to sound as if it were intentionally withheld out of our own selfish desire to keep around someone who was already ready to leave.

It's been slightly less than a week now. We're still reminded of her around seven each day, when we would feed her, and when we have left-overs; we used to set some of them aside for her to add to her kibble for a more well-rounded diet. The mood here has improved. Losing Blot was the last straw of a long line of tough events the past two weeks, which were itself insult to injury, given that we were coming off of a year of moving, a major surgery, and more job changes than you could throw a duckie at. But, with cautious optimism, we move forward. Still, we think about her and miss her.

Yeah same here. I know how it is to lose a pet. But at least it didn't happen around your birthday.
