If you have braces... owie. What problems would braces and other dental work pose for a werewolf? This includes fillings, too.

It hurts just to think about it
:(

But if regeneration is heightened during shifting, possibly the dental fixtures would pop out, or whatnot, and cavities would disappear, etc.

Who knows.

That's my guess. Even if regeneration itself doesn't affect the teeth, the braces would still likely come off when the canines elongate and the face bulges out into a muzzle. It's debatable as to wether or not this would correct the werewolf's jaw set, though the continuous shifting would likely redirect it's own course of growth and make any dental interference short of surgury impossible.

Just thinking about how much it would hurt.
Yeah. Imagine trying to explain that to your dentist.
"Um...Dentist? About this braces thing..."
"Yes?"
"Well you see, I sorta can't..."
"Oh I bet so, no one wants braces. But don't worry, they'll look nice, and I'll tell you what you can't eat."
"Its not that but..."

*shudders* that would hurt very much.

Born werewolves should not go to the dentist unless its an emergncy kindof thing. No braces.
Bitten ones will have it harder. They better find a way to remove them, by dentist or other weres. If not, it will be one hell of a full moon for em. Fillings would most likely be pushed out as teeth grow into sharp fangs.

True, they got rid of the old stuff.

Teeth are a tricky thing; they're harder than bone, and may represent the hardest compound in both human and wolf bodies. A werewolf would have to have some metabolic means of dissolving and re-forming on the fly not just some pointed ends, but the whole set of teeth, since there are sizable anatomic differences to cross.

I would expect braces to get torn off. Yes, it would hurt. But, you wouldn't need braces to hurt while shifting; dental pain is among the worst forms of acute pain, ranking just under childbirth and kidney stones.

One way to solve this is making the teeth gow back perfect after every change... but that would reqire some fiddling... and explanations...

No problem.
Unless they're fixed to the gums.
Then it's a big big problem.

I can see a werewolf growling and showing the fangs when all of a sudden, the dentures falls out.

Heh, that'll make it to the blooper section of the DVD. :D
