Howls, Everyone. I've come here by WP's advice, looking for a few ideas on pup names. I'm about 2 months pregnant now, and decided I should start coming up with names for the new pup.

The last name is: Koppel.

Please help! Oh, and I don't know what the gender is yet, so either boy or girl names.

You know what's a good name? Pierpont. if it's a boy, i would prolly go with Pierpont. You know? Pierpont Koppel? has a nice ring to it if you aks me.

and if it's a girl... hmmmm... that'sa tough one... i think you should name her... umm... OOH! I know! Margaret. also has a nice ring to it, Margaret Koppel.

so yeah. that's my opinion.

Hmmm...

If its male, then I'd probably name him Marcus, Kiernan, or Lovell.
and
If its female, then I would go with Sarah, Annika, or Gloriana.

I haven't got kids though, so I'm not a good person to ask about parenting type things.

I hope your pregnancy goes well.

Hope it's going smoothly, and please be sure to get regular prenatal check-ups. It's possible to do ultrasounds later in pregnancy to determine gender, but those are only about 85-90% reliable. I remember participating during my medical student years in a delivery of a boy who was expected to be a girl!

I was considering discouraging "Ted" as a first nickname, since I thought about getting joked at for having the same name as the news anchor. But, it occurred to me that since Ted Koppel retired, by the time the kid's in second or third grade, most of the kids will never have heard of him. Still, "Ted" wouldn't be a good name for a girl.

I've had to practice coming up with good-sounding names on the fly while writing. It's a lot more impressive-sounding to be Lawrence Hawking than to be Joey Gruber. A few off the top of my head... (Note that middle names don't have to be said day-to-day.)

Female:

Melinda Koppel
Melissa Ellen Koppel
Helen Samantha Koppel

Male:

Richard James Koppel
Jason Koppel
Phillip Koppel

I know it's fun using names like "Bobby" or "Billy," but please, don't put kid's names on the birth certificate! Kids grow up into people, who have to put together resumes. Ask yourself if the name would look good on a tax return or university diploma. Also avoid names like "Krystal"--especially important, since that would alliterate, making anyone reading the name wonder what's her superhero identity.

My parents named me "Jonathan Scott Coolidge" for a reason; they figured that I could be "Jonathan" if I grew up to be an intellectual, bookish introvert, or I could be "Scott" if I were more a social, football and beer type. (Although I go by "Scott Gardener" online, I'm actually "Jonathan" in person, or more usually, Jon. Or, Dr. Coolidge when I'm at work.)

and while arwin is a good name, i would prolly hafta recommend not naming any children that until after peeps forgot about Lord of the Rings, and i don't think that's gonna happen any time soon. i mean, i know this kid named Theodin, and while that's a really cool name, because he had the same name as a character from a Tolkien book, people assume things. and these things have been assumed by erybody (and i mean ERYBODY) all his life, and now, he has no life. he's as nerdy as nerdy gets, yo. that kinda name can scar children, knamean?

anyways, oh, you're welcome. i hope i helped.
