OK, enough with the VAGUE threads!
Posts like, "Why do you hate", and other non-topic oriented threads that leave you confused from the very moment you read them.
I don't want this board to fill up with retards. Sorry, but this kind of thing pisses me off. I want relevant and interesting conversation.

Re: OK, enough with the VAGUE threads!
Yes this post is long, but it's a good read for anyone who has problems with vague and redudnent threads.
In regards to your comment, I can agree that clearly stating the subject of the thread in the title is always a good idea. The thread creator has every right to put what he/she wants, and if it's so bland that nobody gets it, I see two possibilities to begin "fixing" thread titles.
1) Moderators can decide for themselves if a thread is so vague that editing the title or deleting the thread is nessesary.
2) If a Pack member sees a thread that is very vague, they can ask a moderator to take a look and judge if it needs changes. I encourage all moderators to please notify thread creators of the changes made.
This pritty much falls under the same catagory of grammar and spelling, as it has to do with understanding the ideas that are printed. You have every right to complain, but I belive this sort of thing would be best handled in private. I don't mind if anyone PMs me complaints, and am always happy to take a look. If it's just because the thread subject itself is vague and redundant, I don't consider that grounds for deletion. Even in that case, contact a moderator. We can speak with the creator about "junk threads".
Well, you're brutally honest about it, but I can agree. I have edited the titles of some threads that were too vague to understand the subject matter of. This is a matter of internet ettiquete and writing, and nothing to do with intelligence quotient. I never said anything because it's like asking a child to spell correctly. That, and I didn't consider it something to complain about. Please go easy on your fellow Pack members Matt, because most of them are probobly half your age. Internet ettiquete in forums and chatting can take time to develop.MattSullivan wrote:Posts like, "Why do you hate", and other non-topic oriented threads that leave you confused from the very moment you read them.

And things like the 'What are you listening to?" People like those threads, even if they aren't deep threads.
And Baph, the 'Re:' was because I was drunk...and the pack members seemed to like that thread if I recall some of them moderators, you may delete it if you like, but I'm sorry, it was an accident
And yes, you should be more tolerant of younger people. Quite a lot are younger than us here. But I know what you mean, but I've never seen any vague threads, and a moderator would likely remove it.
This is by far the cleanest board I've ever seen. I think the moderators do a very good job (I know you're not implying that they don't, this isn't really related this comment ;) ). Even though I've had my upsets with this board, (I HATE people being mad at me, and most of my mistakes are misunderstandings. ) they have always been forgiving and nice, unlike most boards. Most boards have nothing but vague threads and aggressive, unforgiving, immature attitudesm and frankly, are not worth my time, or really anybody else's time.
Booo....all I can think about now is my stomach, it's growling.

Kirk, that wasn't meant as a personal attack - I was pointing out that RE: /= Drunk. I think I even posted once or twice in that thread, before I forgot what it was about. It was just one example of six or seven threads, and the first that came to mind. Come to think of it - there might've been even more activity in that thread if it was something like 'post here when you're drunk' or something...
OH I see what you guys are going on about now. Despite the vagueness of thread titles this is still THE best message board that I have ever been on and is the only reason I remain on. I usually get to the point of having enough and start cussing everyone out for their supidity and lack of loving parents who let them say or do as they want online, and then leave the forum and then think poorly on all forums. This forum, however changed my mind about forums in general, because everyone here is so friendly and open, and it isn't full of porn spam and what not. I still want to thank you guys for that and I will always be grateful for that

I'm glad everyone sees this place as the most tolerabable forum on the net. Here in this mod position I might only get two PMs a month about post related business. In a previous forum I moderated for a couple of years ago, I had dozens per month. That speaks volumes to me. So, what I find great about this forum is that we get along so well.
But of course, if you see posts that need fixin', PM a mod. We are here to help.

the vague threads aren't THAT bad and some of the comments that they spawn are very interesting.
The most annoying thing about them to me is the fact you have to wade through 2 pages of crap, before you get to the interesting, insightful disscussion that makes this board AWSOME

Eh..Why not have them? There is nothing more werewolf related we can talk about so what then? Unless you have a better idea? Quite frankly I think for the people who have posted such threads your attacking them, though your not stating names, no one is stupid not to know..I think it's rather rude imho..

That's ok Baph
I was just saying, the reason the topic is called 'Re:' is because I was wasted and had no idea what I was posting as the topic title. I really, honestly, don't understand why the hell I would have put 'Re:' as a title. I seriously can't remember doing it. I remember logging on and posting with Andy, perhaps he wanted me to put Re:.
We will never know!

Kirk, if you want to get more interest in the "RE:" thread, you could always just rename it something like "Kirk's Classic Rock Club" or something like that... see who starts noticing it then. I'm not sure exactly how to rename a thread - it might be as easy as just editing the first post and changing its title - someone who's done more of that sort of thing would know for sure.

yep, just edit the first post, and right at the top is the title, and you just re-name it.Midnight wrote:Kirk, if you want to get more interest in the "RE:" thread, you could always just rename it something like "Kirk's Classic Rock Club" or something like that... see who starts noticing it then. I didn't write it to get attention (Who can understand the motives of drunken people? I've never been a 'want attention' sort of girl so I reckon I did it because I was showing Andy the boards). I couldn't care less if no one else posts in it. I wouldn't have expected any replies...I'm shocked there are any. It's okay if the thread dies, seriously haha if we want to talk about our music, just private messaging would work, or an actual thread on it.Midnight wrote:Kirk, if you want to get more interest in the "RE:" thread, you could always just rename it something like "Kirk's Classic Rock Club" or something like that... see who starts noticing it then. Anyway I still haven't checked out the stuff yet, been busy with some assignments. Plant germination and the effect of gibberellic acid and smoky water. Interesting, and nearly finished. I will get around to it eventually, though. Taking me a while to get around the boards and reply to posts!

Oh, I think you're referring to members who don't search the forums first before posting on a subject. In the years I've spent here, there are all kinds of threads that I've seen, some in excess of a dozen times. Some types of threads are definitely event-oriented (and will repeat as the event repeats), such as whenever Snowwalker comes out with a new album. Other threads get posted 'originally' time, after time, after time.
