The forum is not displaying empty space. I tried using the space bar to create a semi concrete poem but it would not display empty space...

Try Enter, then backspace to where you want things to end. I'm not sure that the system will allow too much empty space...

You can change the size of the text by adding [size=#] *your text here* [/size] around your words.

If you make text at a size of 1 or 0, it will not even appear visible. I sometimes use this if I want my words to not start until several lines down, instead of the top of the page.

(The phrase "Nothing to see here" is at the top of this post, but you can't see it, because it is at text size 0.)

Also...

When I want my text to appear indexed in on the page, rather than flush against the left edge, I will type a row of several HUNDRED periods " . " at size ONE.

The periods are invisible, but the text still will move over to the end of the invisible row of dots. Like this...

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ My text is floating in Space!!! Image

[size=0]still nothing to see here. Purple Monkey Dishwasher[/size]

also you should be able to use (alt+0160) to make an imprinted space. so you see nothing period and still have something to jump from.
as seen above :D

*note* i just recently learned of this to stop "lol" from turning into smiles on the pack chat.
Hunh?

I don't get what you mean. Do you type that on the page...or do you hold the "Alt" key, and then hit 0160 while it is being held...or what?

Actually, I can see it. *prods text*

The purple monkey dishwasher thing was cute. :P

If found the alt thing confusing as well.
Because I need to count out the spaces the size=1 solution would kind of be a pain. 1001, 1002, 1003,...
Look at the third poem under Cumulus Poetry. I used (............) instead of spaces.

It looks like you're wanting to use non-breaking spaces. I don't know how to do that in BB Code (it's " " in HTML) but you could try outputting it as fixed data instead:
The FAQ wrote:Outputting code or fixed width data
If you want to output a piece of code or in fact anything that requires a fixed width with a Courier-type font, you should enclose the text in <code></code> tags, eg.

<code>echo "This is some code";</code>

All formatting used within <code></code> tags is retained when you later view it.
Just remember to use square brackets ([ and ]) instead of angle brackets (< and >).

The results should be something like this:

Code: Select all

One space. Two spaces. Three spaces.
if it works.

Werewolf Geekery!

As the Moon rises over the horizon, the change begins: first the bad skin, then the glasses with tape on one temple. The change accelerated, causing him to convulsively grip his dice bag and character sheet. Then as the shift completed, the highwater pants and pocket protector appeared, along with the limp white shirt and 99 cent tie:
The night of the Were-Geek was beginning...

Hmmm... on my PC that text is invisable, but when I view it on my Wii Opera browser, (as I am now), I CAN see it.

I guess it partly depends on your browser, resolution and monitor/settings.

Well That's frustrating.

So I am guessing that bit about the purple monkey diswasher is BS...

Says the purple Wolf with the golden eyes... Note: Resolution levels are more a product of your Monitor than anything else. I can see stuff on the Flatscreen I'm using that is invisble in the older CRT monitor.
