Recruiter Down Recruiter Down!

I'm down.

Big time.

Somehow I must've screwed something up. Or done something very right. It all depends upon perception, I suppose. Recruiting command has 'scooped me back up into it's loving arms', which is to say that KY Jelly is much more permanent when mixed with superglue. If the visuals are disturbing, then reality is worse:

I am recruiting once again. So sayeth the man with some stars on his hat. I start Wednesday. Back in WI.

That sucks. Tough break man. You seemed to be quite happy to get out of that a few of months ago.

The military is in desperate need of men, so they need all the recruiters they can so that the military can get more men as quickly as possible.

Sucks for you man.

Dude. If you dislike the miltary so much...say you're gay, or that you're having back spasms...anything to get out.

eh the military is that bad, not all soldiers our sent to Iraq, i don't exactly agree that the mil. is desperate for men, i could say that positioning of the soldiers is kinda messed up, but not desperate

Is not that easy to get out once you're in. The army has seen so many different methods of people trying to get out. Acting gay....retarded....wounded....you name it.

Ever seen that TV show M*A*S*H? Notice that a man is always wearing women's clothing? He is trying so hard to get out of the Army.

Um... I do recall Baph telling me in person that he wanted to sign for an extension of duty. From what I rememeber, only thing that is disliked here is recruiting.

Baph, my dear Draconic friend-
You're still in shock. You don't want to be a recruiter? Simple:
Tell your potential recruits the TRUTH about where they will probably wind up, and what it will be like.
If that doesn't scare them away; they are well and truly Warriors; and belong in the service...it will be a release for them.
If you do just that, your recruitment score will be so abysmal that you'll be sent to do something else- probably less distasteful.
Me, I enjoyed the Army. Served three tours in lovely Viet Nam. Of course, I'm also crazy....

And was a sniper...

RedEye, I love my job in the military. I've got my little unconfirmed kill count and plenty of mental issues. Hell, the Army even holds on to soldiers now who have PTSD that isn't debilitating. Thanks for doing what you did back in 'Nam.

Someone earlier mentioned about the 'truth' in Iraq, and I was always up front and candid about the costs of war as I know them. It worked well with those who want to join the Army, because they have questions, they got answers. The answers sometimes horrified their parents (who I wasn't so good dealing with).

Anywho - war always brings out both the best, and the worst out of humanity.

Look on the positive side: You are in a place where fireplugs don't explode, and you can speak the language.
