Would you get a real tail?
If you could get a fully functioning tail that is completely controlable and looks anyway you want it. Would you get one? What would it look like?

This is sort of a tough question for me, because it'd be neat to have a nice wolf tail, but I'd like to pick and choose when I had one. There are situations when a tail would be a nuisance, and, it'd probably wierd some people out as well.
So I guess what I'd like is a sort of removable cybernetic tail with full tactile feed-back. Of course we're not going to see anything like that anytime soon. ;)

Having a tail would be nice, though I agree it might be a bit awkward (especially at first)... not to mention trying not to sit on it all day long
If I did it would most certainly be a wolf tail
Though I remember reading an article a couple years back and was able to find it, it is basically this very same idea.

Having a wolf tail would be cool! I would wrap it around myself when I feel cold. It would have to be red colored fur to match my hair

I always thought it would be neat if people had tails Hell, we already have one, sort of, but it's evolved to this little nub of a thing we just sit on. That's something I have wondered, too. If we -did- have tails, how would we sit? Would we sit ON them, or would they have to be highly flexible enough for us to sit on our butts without breaking them?
Anyway, I would definetly have me a big ole fluffy wolf tail!

Why the tail disappeared is beyond me. What it would look like if humans had tails is also beyond me.Goldenwolf wrote:I always thought it would be neat if people had tails Hell, we already have one, sort of, but it's evolved to this little nub of a thing we just sit on. evolution is a strange thing we have on our planet.

Something like adding tails and small animal parts like that probably won't be too far off in the distant future. Look at the cute anime cat girls who have cat ears and cat tails. People love those! We already have the technology to engineer like that. The only thing holding the industry back is "ethics". Give it time to become an acceptable practice and you'll see people walking around all the time with cat ears, tails...you name it.
Question is, what would YOU get?

As I understand it, we lost them because we didn't need them. Which is typical of evolution.Figarou wrote:Why the tail disappeared is beyond me. Seriously. We left the trees, so using it to grab onto branches was unneccesary. We walked upright, so using it for balance was unneccesary. And our speech centers grew astronomically large, making them superfluous for communication. They became an energy sink to grow and maintain and heal, and evolutionary advantage went to those with smaller and smaller tails.
As for how we'd sit if we still had them... probably the same. Chairs would be V-shaped on the seat, so the tail could drape downwards, and chair backs would be supported offset from the center, on only one side, to allow people to slide in and out easily. But we'd still have chairs.
