People underage drink anyways as well as smoke..There's no real way to prevent it from happening even with the laws set, so I honestly can't say it will make a difference to begin with :|

80% of Americans have drank alcohol by the age of 20. But I think they should only lower the drinking age to soldiers who needs something for get thier mind off the war. They dont even atleast have bars or strip joints for the poor soldiers.

WOW!! Such a valid point...I don't think the people who give laws know quite wat they are doing anyways.. :P If you are allowed to go to war an using weapons to protect an serve an are under 21? Pft..Wat kinda sense does that make? It makes none..I had my first drink at like 16 :P :|

I never got drunk until after my 21st birthday. Drinking is overrated anyways. I just do it on some social occations. I'm a Vodka and Jager mixed drink kind of guy.

I had my first alcohol when I was 10. With the approval of my parents. In my family tradition we drink a little bit champaign on every New Years.

They should do it, but I don't think they will. I love how in the article they say that because underage drinkers jump to hard liquor they have proof to say that they shouldn't drink. I'd like to ask why they turn to hard liquor. Probably because they know that they will be punished if they drink, so they don't have the time to be slowly sipping beers when at any moment they could get caught. Hard liquor gets one drunk faster so so why not? Get the effects of alcohol without worrying about getting caught red-handed. So, if the age limit wasn't so high, there wouldn't be as much underground drinking, which would lead to less people outsmarting the system and getting drunk really quickly before they're caught.
And much simpler, if the system believes an 18 year old is smart enough to choose what president he or she wants, what ordinances they'd like in their city, what people is best to govern their cities, counties, and states, what propositions they want to vote in or out, and much more, then how can they not believe that that those same people cannot smartly decide whether they'd like to consume a drink that makes them feel good? Sure, the government has a small obligation to protect it's people, but not when that interferes with the people's ability to choose at a mature enough age. Ugh! Makes me want to be done with law school so I can go fight for young people like myself.

Really, i think that they can do what is being done in Sweden. Drinking age is 18 for "weak" alcohol, and 21 for the "strong" alcohol and hard liquors and whatnot.

i think they should lower it for the simple little liquors and have the kids must be drinking with responsible adults but NEVER drink enough to get fully drunk

My only concern is that a lot of(not all) teenagers are very irresponsible. Four of my five friends have been raped, and for two of them, it occurred while they were drunk. I'm just afraid of girls drinking too much and getting taken advantage of.

But I'm all for letting soldiers drink. Man that's a rough life, let them have whatever enjoyment they can get!

Well, dispite the laws, kids still drink. Immaturity and drunkeness is always a bad combination. I just hope more of them get caught in the act and punished for being stupid. Hell, even marajuana is safer than booze, yet the penalties are even more severe. Kids will try anything to "fit in".

well, I don't really like beer, I'm more if a "Wine" kind of person. lck

and well, I only get to drink it every once in a wile, and it's with my mom. :D

and I think that you should be able to legally drink at 18! since you are an adult at 18, it's unfair to have to wait until 21, since you can go to war at 18.

I think they made 21 the age becuase 18 is when most people get out of HS. It's when they are supposed to use their money wisely instead of drinking like some do...but then again, I guess a beer here or there every once and a while wouldn't kill you
