Dang.....here in south Texas, we got lots of rain in June and July. It caused major flooding in some areas. We got a lot more rain from tropical storm Erwin a few weeks ago.

Now...Hurricane Dean is on its way. Its possible it could hit the Texas coast. I know I'll be greatly affected from it. Gas prices will go up as the refineries shut down. That means I'm going to be VERY busy the next few days. I'm not sure if Houston will get hit. If it does....I may have to go there for "hurricane relief."

We got to much rain as it is. Any more and it'll be instant flooding with very little rainfall since the ground is already saturated.

Aww crap. I don't live in a hurricane area, so I can't really relate...but I will keep my fingers crossed that Dean does not hit Texas.

For a while yesterday it looked like it was coming straight at me. But now I think it'll hit farther south.

I hope it doesn't hit Texas! my dad lives in a Town right next to Houston! and he has been telling me about how badly it's been raining there.



oh though, El Paso would finily get rain, and it's been in the 100's

Did you know that El Paso use to never get higher than 90 degrees in the 70s?

Anyway, sorry to hear about the hurricane coming towards your place Figarou. I dont think Texas is as use to hurricanes as Floridians are. We dont see hurricanes as that big of a thing here anymore.

In Beaumont we are. We get as many as you guys.^^

Cathey and I used to live in hurricane-prone areas ourselves. Indeed, we cite Hurricane Rita as the reason we moved up here--or at least it as the motivating force for our getting out of the line of fire.

I'm semi-relieved that Texas seems to be spared, but I can't be too happy, because that only means that someone else--in this case Mexico--gets hit instead.

Hurricane seasons seem to go into full swing with a tropical storm, followed a week later by a full-blown hurricane hitting the same place hit by the tropical storm. Usually this seems to happen around Florida, but this time it was here in Texas.

Its still hard to predict exactly where the hurricane will go. It could stall in the middle of the Gulf. Or do a sharp turn and head towards Louisiana. Who knows.

If it does head my direction....I'll probably be heading farther inland. It all depends on how strong the storm is once it gets here.

so true. and on the local news they keep on talking and hoping that it will change direction.


but the Red Cross of El Paso is getting ready for people who have to leave the bad areas. and help them out.

Yeah, but just think about how normally this time of year you'd be under water restrictions because the level in the aquifer is really low.

All the way up here, we almost never get hit but we do get plenty of rain for days (like we are now).
