That was annoying as well.
The level of being annoyed increases with the duration of the noise.

Dude, Lightpaws just stormed into my room, punched me, and told me to shut it the hell off, then she stomped back to her room. Her room is on the other side of the house!

It is that annoying, these sounds appear to have a long range, depending on the volume of your speakers.

I can hear it in the sound clip in the first post, but not in that video. Is it the video's bad audio quality? I was told that one's ability to hear only changes by less than 100 Hertz in the high tones between the ages of 19 and 21, on average.

My hearing did not change much from nineteen to twenty one as it sounds as loud as it can be. I will have to wait until I am over fifty to test it again. I know someone over fifty that cannot hear a thing.
I do not believe anyone can hear much in the second video, it must not record well, she was not pleased with the sound.

It is, if it was on long enough it may make us dizzy.

It permeates the entire area with sound, so it is odd when it cannot be heard by another.
It reminds me of a louder version of the tone that comes from a television.

Yeah, but I couldn't hear a thing while Light, who was in the otherside of the house, apparently began to fidget uncontrollably before coming over to tell me to stop!

I would too! It's annoying and it hurts!
On a separate note....one of my friends has this same exact sound on his phone and he played it one morning during class. Most everyone could hear it except for a few kids and the teacher...oh man that was such an annoying sound @_@

I'm not gonna listen to it. I already listened to one of those 'digital dogflutes' some time ago and it was very painfull. There is a reason why dogs freak out of that sound.

I know that sound too.
When my dad turns off the tv, he turns on the box which leaves the TV black with that whining sound...and he can't tell it's still on.
So annoying
