Arent selkies th e s*** shapeshifters ever? They are pretty much the Aquaman of shapeshifters, in that they are pretty much useless except for in water, and even then not that much. I mean, honestly, what would you rather change into, a wolf, a tiger, OR A FRIGGING SEAL!

Depending on who is doing the snatching, that might not be all that bad >.>

It's also interesting that there seem to be two sorts of Selkie: The Pelagic- or Seal Selkie; who for the most part aren't all that harmful to humans, other than terrible fish-breath (think sushi breath x 100)

Then there are the Riverine Selkies, who turn into horses. Try riding one of them, and they'll run you into the nearest river, drown and eat you.

Fish breath isn't that bad, come to think of it...

They may be unsealy wights, but those water horses are awesome!

yeah, i'll admit that seklies are on the lame side, but c'mon! don't be dissin aquaman. he can talk to sa creatures, he has superstrength, he can't drown, and he's a king. he has the entire army of atlantis on his side. that definitely doesn't seem to bad to me.

I think Selkies are wonderful creatures. Sure, they're not powerful like werewolves, but they have their little, secluded niche. I'm quite suprised more people don't know about Selkies, actually; other than the Kelpie (Kelpy, ect. Water horses).

I think it would be pretty cool to be able to swim uderwater and not have to come up for breath every minute. (though I personaly am too afraid to stick my head under water period )
The only thing that would suck about being a selkie would to have to worry about someone stealing your seal skin when ever you want to turn into human form.

So; don't go human. Or-wear it like a cloak, to stay warm.

If selkies can walk around with a giant ball of watery glob with them for a weapon, or wear "shoes" made from water, then i'll consider hiring them as protection or escorts.

What the selkies lack in ferocity, they make up for with charm and sex appeal. I'm not hopeful enough to presume that a werewolf would automatically be happy to see me, so given the option, I'd rather have an encounter with a selkie.
