Bears aren't my favorite mammals as well, even though we don't have them in the wild over here.

They are in your backyard

So you have got that protective grid around your veggie garden to keep the bears away?

Yes. Among other animals ( deer, etc )
And thankyou ravaged Warrior thats EXACTLY how I view the existence of bears. Al-Queada is a close second. And it's no surprise that a WERE-BEAR is one of the villans in Camp Lycanthrope 2

Have you tried electric livestock fencing?
If they're that much of a problem, it might help. One zap is enough to keep most animals away. Those fences aren't harmful, but damn, are they unpleasant. I can vouch for that personally. (Leaned against the horses' fence by accident. Never did it again.)

Hey, remember when I was at your house last Matt? We heard a bear growl and scare all the racoons. Just be happy you have any interesting wildlife. Here in Albuquerque, I do see jackrabbits all the time. They're too fast to take a photo of must of the time. You have the cool large animals. Around my hometown in Texas, there is nothing larger than squrrels.

What nice little bears.
I like bears, however, I would rather they did not come into my yard.
Only deer, raccoons, rabbits, opossums, bats, so far.
man...they can go extinct for all I care.

I suppose I oughta be awed by the grandeur and splendor of my home state, but goddamn..is scary going out to the car at night. Bears are black. You cant see em until you nearly step on them ( which I did once and nearly pissed myself racing back into the house )

I can imagine it....do you have got some halogen lamps around your house? Maybe with motion detectors....then you could see when there are bears around...

well, it kinda sucks that I live in the desert, but haven't seen even a single coyote or javelena near my place.
And those bears do look kinda cute.

Yeah well...racoons look cute till you catch them. Then they become hissing, spitting, frothing cat-like monsters bent on your destruction

Ah... That's cute how they think they're a threat to us! They're only about one fifth our size, the silly little dudes.

Watch out! Those guys can be rabid and nasty! But also cute... ever seen them eat a crawdad?! All their washing and ginger hand movements are adorable!
Ok, now I'm hungry. Someone toss me one of the masked critters. I'm gonna wolf it down!

Only problem with raccoons so far is one rabid or sick one, one that died under the deck and the ones that try to get into the house, they come and go, some would get fairly close to us by wild animal standards.
i wish i lived by bears...wolves....alot of other animals
I like bears, however, doubt most people want them in their back yard.

If I were to walk across the path of a family of racoons, what would happen? Would they run or attack?
MattSullivan wrote:i tell ya wolves are cool...but bears...man...they can go extinct for all I care.
Z is right. If you're being serious, then that is very mean. Matt, you gotta stop giving the people the wrong impression about you. People can take anything you say as a serious statement in forums.
I say, traqualize the bears that are threateningly close to human cities, and relocate them.

For here, they will either walk away or run, depending on how fast you move, I have seen them run fast when getting closer and another time just stare at me and walk away when I was moving slower, that was the time they got in the house to find food, we blocked it off so they cannot get in again, they did try to get back in for awhile.

tranquilize, not kill. he could always relocate them in a different forest
