Hello, i'm SL. Recently the Wolf Movie Forums(http://wolfmovie.com/wolfforum/index.php) had a really nasty porn bot attack and one of the admins, Uzuri had to disable embedded images for first posts. Seeing as how this baord is similer to Wolf Movie i was wondering if you have any special anti bot measures. Here are ours:
It's phpBB 2.0.21

Currently we require email verification (as you know), and we block most SE Asian IPs, pretty much any email that's not a .com/.net/.org/edu (and yeah, I know that that doesn't actually help much). We don't allow the website field in the memberlist to show until a person has posted, but that's only a workaround, not a deterrent. We don't use CAPCHA, but most of our spam problems appear to have humans behind the keyboard and CAPCHA can't stop them.

Audrey(Main admin) doesn't want to go to admin-approval for various reasons, or I'd just do that. It would stop spam cold.

And that's really about it, because that's all phpBB offers. The webstite in the member's list was actually a tweak I wrote myself, but I'm not familiar enough with the code to do that all the time.
Also, for the no new posts measure in forum games did you use this:

Thank you for all replies. :howl: :oo

PS: If you don't want to share the info in puplic then email webmaster@wolfmovie.com

E-mail verification is how it's done here as well, I think. I'm not sure if there's any other working method (although I've also seen the random letter/number image thingy, but I'm not sure if that works all that well or not).

The WM board is a very active community so we don't want to have to handicap our own members beacuse of bots.
Have it so people have to be approved before posting..It definately helps with keeping spammers or bots out
I'm afraid the main admin does not want to do that. I'll relay it on to her though.

More ideas wanted. Don't mind how you send them.

After a Google search, I found something that may interest you.

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=210055

I found it from here:

Is that something you might be able to use?

I never heard of this until now. Dispite how long it's taking, it's very impressive for a volunteer project.

Ja - it's quite the thing. However, I haven't been able to dedicate any music that way - perhaps I'll throw in a special something for them on my next album (I already have it in mind)... but for me it's just been getting buried in work thanks to the Army (right after I agreed to help them - the Army made me a recruiter and that became the nail in the coffin).

I can't wait to see it though.
