Si, i was thinking: what about other were animals. We have seen wereleopards (Cat people), but what about bears and tigers?
Michael Jackson transformed into something feline in "Thriller", but thats what we have seen expect Cat people.
Seems like a werebear, especially if it was a polar bear, could do ver much damage. Or try a weretiger. A siberian tiger were.
But i have heard very few stories of such animals. Miavir has a few tf stories in that archive.
I have also read Barken Tx, where people transform into dogs. LOL.
Anyone else that knows about weretigers and werebears?

I haven't really heard or read stories about werebears, or really anything beyond werewolves.

There are American Indian stories about Were-Bears, and Were-Pumas in North America, as well as Were-Jaguars in mezo-central America.
Mostly they revolve around Shamanic transformations.
Oddly enough, I haven't heard of a North American Indian WereWolf, either as story or shamanic transformation.
In soutnern Asia, there are supposed Were-Tigers out in the jungle.
In old Egypt, there were all sorts of Were's, since the priests of the various Gods could take on the form of their Deity at need.
Lessee...Africa has Were-Lions and Were-Buffalo, in story form.
Anyway-actual TF types are mostly found in Europe and North America. The rest are more Spirit TF's than alleged Physical ones.

There's a were-bear in "The Hobbit" - something to keep in mind if they ever get the film made.

That would be a Polymorph...essentially a being that could assume any shape that he saw.
As I remember, there was a tragic ending; in that the Polymorph couldn't remember what he really looked like-his "neutral" form.

There are other werecreatures, but I fail to relate to them. They all undeniably represent a important essence of nature, but its just not mine.

I go for tigers and birds and whatnot, but this is primarily a werewolf forum. I think American Indians have more coyotes than wolves, though. And ravens.

Well, is there any representation for the non-werewolf-weres in any books?

Try Narasimha and Garuda. Fresh off Hindu mythology, and not from the same old native american scriptures...

Werepangolin!!!
Actually, there are a number of books of the 'supernatural romance' genre that feature a variety of large cat variations, which I managed to resist the unholy urge to read, and one that features a weresnake as a side character. The 'Fera' of the White Wolf, related to the Werewolf: The Apocalypse series, are also non-wolf shapeshifters, and such creatures usually show up also in DnD.
