Is a werewolf pure evil or not?

In my personal opinion I think not. Some artist look at them wrong and some look at them as very protective animals that don't let nothing try to take over his property and territory. What is your opinion?

No.

Is that clear enough?

It is up to the author. Good? Ok. Evil? Nice too. The question is if you prefer to watch good werewolves or evil werewolves in a movie... I prefer evil ones (or at least i-do-what-the-beasts-do ones).

Well...They are as good and evil as other animals or as humans tend to be.

Just depends on their personalitly and views about the world and all. Or if an author is making up a werewolf character, she or he can make them evil or good, or whatever they feel like.

"Good" and "Evil" are terms ambiguous enough for both of them to invalidate themselves. You'd have to be incredibly gullible or brainwashed to believe otherwise.

Thread over.

They are what we make them.

It completely depends on the author or artist. Is the "neo-werewolf" concept that many of us romanticize here pure "evil?" Of course not. In fact, if you could plug a morality onto him, he would be "good" more often than not.

But, there have been many stories of cursed werewolves whose curse makes them evil; a natural evil in the classical sense, with an unremitting and cruel bloodthirst, hatefulness, and destructive temperament.

This is one of those questions that has been debated to death. The consensus is that the average werewolf is just as evil as the average human being.

Of course, that's not to say that werewolves are inherently good. Just that human beings are equally as capable of evil as werewolves are. My understanding is that Freeborn is not going to be about good werewolves, but werewolves with the human element, and the human element can add up to a force of good, an unspeakable horror and anything anywhere in between. Really, if you don't believe that our own kind are just as scary, if not scarier, than werewolves, vampires or any other B-movie monster, watch Silence of the Lambs or Suspect Zero and just try and tell me otherwise. :grinp:

It's all in your point of view—even Hitler believed he was doing Good. I figure, if nobody's engaging in the wholesale slaughter of innocents, let 'em be. If they are...why don't we re-enact D-Day the way we do the Revolution or the Civil War? We'd have lots of guys well-practiced at storming beaches. :)

There is good and evil within us all.

In fact, if you didn't have either of the 2, you'd be so screwed in the head that chances are, you'd portray "true evil" itself through acts of sheer stupidity.

If you subscribe to the concept of Free Will, then Pure Evil or Pure Good cannot exist.
Under Free Will, we know of Good and Evil as relative values, not as absolutes. Pure Good is that which has no Evil as any part of itself; not even as an abstract concept. Ditto with Pure Evil; even the abstract concept of "Good" renders it impure and therefore relative.
Putting it simply, if you can make a decision to do either Good or Evil, the results of that decision are a product of your will and have as integral parts of themselves bits and pieces of both ideas; hence "Pure" becomes impossible.
Good is separated from Evil by intent, action, and outcome. We may intend to be good, and act in a good manner, but we may well have as a result a non-good outcome. Thus:
Native Americans were exposed to Smallpox by the same Missionaries that came to "save their souls", and died by the thousands. Those who lived had their culture forcibly destroyed by these same Missionaries who were acting by their definition of Great Good in doing so. Indeed, their holy documents called the "Bible" exhort these very actions, and by definition, the Bible, being "Holy" is categorically "Good".
Hence, relative Good and Evil are the best we can get today.

I agree. I would almost submit that neither exist since they are almost impossible to perfectly define. We all have our perspections on what is "good" or "evil". In fact, I dare say that almost all people would have a slightly different answer.

That being said, it kinda invalidates this question.

I believe it is up to the wolf, in other terms you can licence some to drive but not to live, we all have issues and being something as powerful as a werewolf, power more than anything can drive you to either crave more power or use it usefully to help those who need help in this world

You decide

I think that it is what ever the human is. Being a werewolf would be like a new aspect of life to a person. People who tend to be "evil" would see it as a chance of uncontrolled destruction. There are also humans who would vow to never harm another innocent. And good weerewolves fighting bad ones would be awesome. :x

No, that's what werewolf media desperately needs, especially a civil war without the kind of bias that made Mohammed Aidid look like Kingpin out of Africa. Baaaad Bruckheimer.

Me too. I believe that a were is only as good or evil as the human form that controls it. Just like bloodsuckers they can be good or bad depending on the person. Just because a person turns into a wolf doesn't necessarily mean they're evil nor good.

This looks cool: :shift:
