im on a topic spree
would a werewolf actually try and restrain himself? like shackle him up in the basement to keep him safe from society
i understand the "oh my im a monster i can't let my self hurt anyone" kind of werewolf
but what a proud werewolf or any werewolf. Would they just spend their gift locked away.

Raises eyebrows slightly.
Hmm... well, it's not really my sort of thing, but anything that goes on between consenting adult werewolves (especially in the privacy of their own basements) is not, and should not be, any of my business, or anyone else's but their own.

Well...it depends entirely on how much control they'd have when in their werewolf form.
If they blacked-out, and woke up in a field, naked, and covered in blood....yeah I'd imagine I might restrain myself once I figured out why this kept happening on a monthly basis.
If they remained lucid through the whole thing, and had control over their werewolf form... I doubt they'd have reason to.

The problem with restraining yourself is that you have to be able to
unrestrain yourself afterwards. If you can't, you mind wind up stuck in the basement until either friends, family or co-workers wonder why you didn't show up for work and stopped answering the phone, or you can get out on your own power, and therefore the purpose of restraining yourself is defeated.
I think a pack would have some kind of "spotting" system to make sure that a werewolf does transform (at least for the first time) in a safe environment and can be restrained if need be, but unless you turned into a full wolf and could restrain yourself in such a way that could only be unrestrained with full human hands (like maybe with one of those combination luggage locks or what have you), do it yourself jobs would be highly discouraged.

I would think maybe for a little while then test it to see if it was alright, but if not well then expect twenty years of being locked up in the basement. :howl: :oo

This was actually done in the TV series "Werewolf" (BBC). She was a Werewolf (the crazy killing machine sort) and her lover/husband would chain her up when her "time was upon her".
Seriously, if the Werewolf was that animalistic; then the human side could just use combination locks on the shackles: no chance the Werewolf would be able to undo something that sophisticated.
A time-lock system could also be used.
That leaves the danger of fire...
Actually, what would do the trick would be a room set up with a time lock on the only door. Once in, you don't get out until sunrise (or moonset). Once inside, the Werewolf would be contained and not a danger to anyone.

That's a nice idea, to bad they don't have those developed!

i think the only time a ww should be chained up is when he/she is out of control and cant stop themselves. other then that its up to them

Actually, Black Claw, they do have such rooms already available.
They're called bank vaults.

well that's easy....just go on a small bank robbing spree every month and you'd be all set...lol.

I was thinking
depending on the strength of the werewolf a room would be much better because (once again depending on strength) a werewolf could brack chains or handcuff [no joking] or rope or whatever....
so a reenforced room would be much better.

I wonder if animal tranquilizer would work. Just hit yourself with a nice dose of that just as you start to shift.

That coould be iffy; depending on how effective drugs are on Werewolves.
In some stories, they aren't affected. In others, the human side IS, but the Werewolf side isn't.
Plus, get your timing wrong, and you could come down with a bad case of dead.

AND
tranqs work off of weight, the dosage anyway.
and if you get giant from a normal size person the dosage would kill you. so you'd have to give it to yourself as a werewolf but if your tame and in control enough to drug yourself then you really don't need to restrain yourself........

Speaking of that, I bet many tame/in-control/good werewolves would restrain themselves at first anyway, just out of fear. Especially if they were just an average person who got all their ideas about werewolves from popular culture. They might not trust themselves.
