Ooo, that's good! I hope you win, because your script and story is original. I could have read your screenplay, though.
If you script is the winner. I hope these studios won't make the film, the producers and the directors might fool around with it.
Untrustworthy movie companies:
- Universal Studios
- Sony Pictures (hell no!)
- Tristar
- Pixar (they will make it marketable PG!).
- Disney (these guys won't accept it).
- Paramount Pictures
- MGM
Trustworthy? movie companies:
- Dreamworks
- 20th Century Fox
- Independent film studios (not exactly high on production values and casting though).
- Matt Productions?
- Columbia Pictures
Meh, just my imagination or dream for these rich corporate Hollywood companies to be interested in Camp Lycanthrope.

The script has changed dramatically since I let people review it here...It' the same movie but much much shorter, with a few plot changes. nothing major though.

So that disqualifies both of them because of their nasty owner...I guess.Set wrote:Paramount and Dreamworks are owned by the same company. *points to the "Property of Viacom" stickers on them*IndianaJones wrote:Untrustworthy movie companies:

Anyway, Congratulations, Matt! Re-writes are a b****, but they are worth it in the end.

rewrites are key. Some of you wouldn't even recognize it after I cut nearly 27 pages out of it.

Re: Holy crap! A CAMP LYCANTHROPE update?
Yes, but they're managed independent of each other. One company (Paramount) butchers the living crap out of everything to make it as generic and one-size-fits-all as possible, the other (Dreamworks) appears to be founded on a genuine love of the craft.Set wrote:Paramount and Dreamworks are owned by the same company. *points to the "Property of Viacom" stickers on them*IndianaJones wrote:Untrustworthy movie companies:

That's not to say that if Matt went with Dreamworks that Camp Lycanthrope would come out exactly as he'd envisioned it. The difference is that, while Paramount will dissect it, tell you every teeny little thing that's damaging to their market base and turn it into a generic piece of crap, Dreamworks will allow their animators to brainstorm ideas, their voice actors to improv; they'll probably use the script as just a rough outline they can have fun filling in.
So I've been told anyway.

Re: Holy crap! A CAMP LYCANTHROPE update?
That's ASSUMING it gets made in animation...there's always live action with big time fx! And anyway, Dreamworks CAN make awesome animation, just look at Kung Fu panda. It's just they have story issues that rarely get addressed. That's not to say that if Matt went with Dreamworks that Camp Lycanthrope would come out exactly as he'd envisioned it. At this point, I don't care WHAT studio is interested in it, as long as they want to make a cool werewolf movie and don't demand TOO many changes. But I have to be in the top 10 % of the screenwriting pack before any of that can even be thought about.

Re: Holy crap! A CAMP LYCANTHROPE update?
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope this means you finally can make the movie.
Was it difficult to remove the 27 pages and the changes?
The script to the dog movie i,m (still) involved in has so far been changed 7 times and still only 2 scenes have been filmed. Still they havent agreed on a final script.
From the beginning it was meant to be animated. Now it has changed to live action movie. Still with no fart jokes or such.

Re: Holy crap! A CAMP LYCANTHROPE update?
I'd really like to make CL. It's story and look seems to appeal to werewolf fans, and more importantly to NON-werewolf fans.
But let's not forget about Josh Roberts and Hour of Darkness. That has a really good chance of getting made. Josh is very good at procuring contacts, and it wouldn't surprise me if HOD was eventually scooped up by a studio. He can also write like crazy. He's a real idea factory. Currently, he's serving as a sort of consultant on my new script, providing valuable opinions and observations.
Now, cost could be a factor in getting HOD or CL made. Both scripts are fairly big adventures. Writers generally try and sell low budget scripts, hoping to reap massive profits. CL would have a smaller budget than HOD, I think, if nothing else than the fact its set in present day, and most of it takes place in the mountains ( no sets required if it were made in live action, except the cave battle at the end, and that can be fixed with simple green screen and matte paintings. Effects would be the big cost if you want it done right.
But at the moment CL is still considered "animated" I can see doing the film for a smaller animation budget and STILL having it turn out well.

Yes. it was rough. Editing your "baby" and removing scenes you love is exceptionally painful. Hell, 5 pages is hard. 27 was....agony. But the script is a thousand times better now.Was it difficult to remove the 27 pages and the changes?

Re: Holy crap! A CAMP LYCANTHROPE update?
I do hope Camp Lycanthrope is being made.
I have an idea, you should create your very own independent animation studios called Matt Productions or Sullivan Productions Inc. in influence with the Pack. As mentioned in my above post. Which can be time-consuming and hard work for it to be established.
But, I never really had a chance to read your early scripts and later scripts of CL before, Matt. I should have joined the Pack earlier before 2007 with my very own personal user name.
Of course its hard to make changes to your lovable Camp Lycanthrope. If you have to edit and take out some parts that can be good hurts your imagination block a bit. But it is still there in your mind, waiting to be shared again in a sequel, if proven highly successful.

Fingers crossed Matt. Hope you make it!
( 27 pages?! Oh my God, that must have been a living hell.)
And ( God forbid ) it doesn't make it, I will run to that studio and show them what a b**** I am as a werewolf.
Like I said, Hope it makes it!!! CL, yeah!!

Re: Holy crap! A CAMP LYCANTHROPE update?
Oh, I'd love to, but I'd have to raise a large amount of money, not only for the studio, but for the film budget. As of this moment, that's not possible.I have an idea, you should create your very own independent animation studios called Matt Productions or Sullivan Productions Inc. in influence with the Pack
Yes, and I'm sorry about that. I'm not handing out any more copies for a few reasons. One, IF a studio wants to make it, I can't have spoilers going around or people leaking the current script. Two, I'd like the film to be something of a surprise to fans. It'll be no fun if they know every little detail about it.But, I never really had a chance to read your early scripts and later scripts of CL before, Matt.
Thanks Ouka. That's a funny mental image :} But if the script doesn't stand on its own merits, the film wouldn't be made anyway ^-^If it doesn't make it, I will run to that studio and show them what a b**** I am as a werewolf.
