So, I just heard about this remake of the Wolfman movie they're planning on releasing in 2009.
Rottentomatoes:

IMDB:

I've never actually seen the original (nor do I plan to) because the wolfman looks hideous, but if the reviews are good I may take a look someday. What do you all think?

I think Hollywood's running out of crap to remake.

Yeah, I have heard of this, and I'm simply peeved they're still trying to go for the old style of the wolfman.
I know it's an iconic look and all, but the only reason the wolfman looked the way he did is because at the time he was made there wasn't any good CG.

Do you suppose they'll film it in nostalgic black and white?
At least the original wolfman didn't look like a gorilla in a wolf's mask.
He didn't much look like a wolf, either, come to think of it.

Nope, still do not care for the design.

aww come on guys, if he didn't look like that he wouldnt be the wolf man! we always refer to that look as the wolfman look, so if the wolfman was an awesome gestalt we'd have no more reference point for those ugly hairy dudes.

That's the thing. It's ugly, and stupid. This is a
remake. The wolfman may have worked during his time, because the film industries weren't up for big gestalt beasts, but now,
we have the technology.
And seriously, this isn't just my opinion -- how many people do you think want to sit through an hour and a half trying to pity
that?
As Red-Eye pointed out, no one remakes films in black and white because that's what was originally done. The remake of the Hulk involved CG that didn't exist in the original -- and that didn't stop anyone.
Maybe I'm being finicky.

the point is, thy're not making a werewolf movie. They are making a WolfMan Movie. You could no more make the Wolfman look like a cool werewolf then you could ditch Dracula's Fangs or the Mummie's Wrappings. He's not just a werewolf, he's a universal monster. He is an Icon.
And for the record, I like the Lou Ferrigno Hulk over anything computer-generated.

A wolf-man can still look like a werewolf, what they could do in the past was limited, or they just liked really bad designs.

You have a very good point there.
It's probably selfish to think they should change the wolfman just because
I simply don't like the design.

I've always loved the original Wolfman movie. I've seen it for a milion times!
Well, this remake may be good, you never know. I agree Wolf-man-24, he is a universal icon, and he should look the way he was ment to look.

That would be because Lou Ferrigno is, in fact, a God among men. The man
nearly beat out Ah-nuhld for the Mr. Universe title at one point. And I think, if he hadn't gone into the competition doubting himself and his physique, he'd have probably won.
Anyway, I'm off topic. I'd rather see the Wolfman remade completely. Nine times out of ten, they're going to do a complete hatchet job on the story
anyway, so much so that it'll likely be an almost new movie. And they
did ditch the Mummy's wrappings...if I'm not mistaken, the Mummy movie with Brendan Frasier in it was a re imagining of the old movie, but I could be wrong on that. And take a good long look at what they actually
did with Dracula in any of the latest Dracula remakes (Bram Stoker's Dracula, Dracula 2000...etc.) I'd be happy just with a bit of a makeover, even if it was just to make him look like the Wolfman version portrayed in the Monster Squad.(C'mon, you've seen the movie...
everybody remembers the line. "Whoa...Wolfman has nards!")

A universal icon, and he should look the way he was ment to look.
Could have just looked like that because that was the best they could do at the time, or they had no style.
