Something I came across, and felt like I might as well just post it:

Could just be a partially decomposed animal.

I was waiting for this! Im surprised no one brought it up sooner.

It looks fake to me. Especially because the "body" always disappears before the cops can take a look at it. Though it is creepy looking.

I saw a couple of articles about it on Boing Boing. The most recent one - http://www.boingboing.net/2008/08/01/mo ... ntauk.html - includes a photograph which, honestly, looks to me very much like a dog.

And the verdict is....

A dead raccoon.

I win. Image
PariahPoet wrote:Came across that story a few days ago. My vote is on dead raccoon. Mostly because of the shape of that front paw. I think the "beak" is just an era of exposed skull where the muzzle is decomposed because you can see there is no lower half to this beak, you can, however, see lower canine teeth.

I love how completely clueless people keep yelling "It's a turtle without its shell!". A turtle's spine is a part of its shell and the fleshy body is attached to the shell. It can't just climb out. Plus turtles don't have teeth. :P

Not to mention the way the picture is shown, there is no reference as to the animal's actual size. It could be tiny, or huge; from the picture, you can't tell.

That dead raccoon doesn't even look like a dead raccoon. It looks more like a undead dog, all of its fur is missing, because it is still decomposing and that is creepy.

Hmm, that's an interesting fine. But I just don't see how it can be a raccoon. Maybe because it's been decomposed to the point that you can't really recognize it? I don't know.

Nothing looks the same way on the inside as it does on the outside. Like whale skeletons. *shudders*
