thepacksden.com expiring

Post by takyoji »

Here's the general details
  • thepack.network is expiring.
  • Anthony hasn't been up-to-date on his payments for hosting
  • I've bugged him about it several times about it prior
  • Red Victoria and Cashel Entertainment run on the same server, so they're inaccessible as well
  • This place is our new location for the time being (if nothing is done)
Otherwise I've sent this message out to several members. You may also go ahead and spread it to others as well:
Takyoji wrote:thepack.network has become inaccessible due to lack of sufficient financing for hosting. This is due to Anthony horribly procrastinating with payments especially after being repeatedly warned. This does not under any circumstance means that The Pack is gone; we're simply moving to a different location temporarily. All it takes is for Anthony to continue paying $9/month for the hosting for thepack.network to become accessible again. This is also occuring with redvictoriathemovie.com and cashelentertainment.net.

In the mean time we've created a temporary safehouse for The Packs Den in the event that this issue doesn't get resolved. We have nightly backups of all the posts on the forum, thus we have restored the database for The Packs Den on our safehouse location at http://pack.paradice.net (note there is no 's' in the spelling of 'paradice'). If the inaccessibility issue of thepack.network persists, then we will use the pack.paradice.net as our new location (and may get a shorter domain along with that).

So feel free to go to our temporary location at http://pack.paradice.net
Or alternately, feel free to use our IRC-based chatroom service which is at irc.paradice.net on the channel "#pack". There is a web-based client accessible at http://kiri.nonexiste.net:2001/

Pass this email to any members of The Packs Den that aren't aware of this yet. Also, this is a message to just some of the members, not all of them. We might do a mass email soon if this method proves ineffective.

From,

Note: We may have lost a few avatars and attachments in transition (the filesystem is from a 2 month old backup, however, the database backup is from last night)

If you are interested, I am currently paying for hosting service for my own website that allows me unlimited domains. If you would like, I wouldn't have a problem with hosting The Pack on my account (we can even transfer the same domain if wanted). Here is what my service looks like in case you are interested:

http://www.bluehost.com/ (under "what's included?")

Just let me know!

I'm assuming what you have is a basic shared hosting server. We're considering on using a virtual dedicated server for it's benefits of availability, resources, and flexibility. This current forum runs on a cheap shared hosting plan which is why it's slow or unresponsive occasionally.

Anyway, it took far longer than needed for transferring the posts (from the safehouse). Had a few problems, but hopefully there shouldn't be any major errors. Otherwise tell me of any misplaced posts, invalid last posts, etc.

Otherwise, it's not over yet. The forum was inaccessible due to the hosting not being paid for, which has now been covered. However, he hasn't paid for the continuation of the domain "thepack.network" which is still going to expire on November 16th if he doesn't pay for it. So this forum might become inaccessible once again.

Just to give you all a head's up: the safehouse (the location to run to if this forum becomes inaccessible) for The Packs Den is currently located at http://pack.paradice.net/ (the forum is at http://pack.paradice.net/thepackboard/ )

FYI: I have no problem with the safehouse remaining up indefinitely - so no matter what else comes up, the Pack can go on. Our domain won't be up for renewal until 2015, and hosting for me is no-cost.

It's a shame the packden is going to be down for awhile but long as the pack is together......
