I first saw this over at Baph's Paradice forum, where I occasionally lurk and will have to get myself an account, and I cringed then. I've cringed every time I've heard mention of it since.

I can see one or two ways in which this could be incredible, because Buffy really wasn't all that bad, but I can see so many more ways in which this could be an atrocious crime committed against Werewolves.

I'm a little surprised the name got past the whole "Family Friendly" censors.

On a different thread, ahahahaha!

From the same geniuses that brought us Pushing Daisies?

This won't last long. If anything, it'll just put a slight dent (among thousands of wrecks) in the werewolf image and another light hit to Freeborn etc.'s claim to originality.

Seriously, my money is that this thing won't make it through the first season. The first episode will probably have good ratings because of all the werekins and/or furries tuning in to see what it's like, but after that it'll fall flat.

What bugs me, is that the longer anyone waits to do Freeborn, or the longer I wait to do my own semi-related project(s), the more the originality goes by the wayside as the rest of the world catches up. By the time it's done, it's long-since mindblowing, and moved on to the 'meh' stage. I'd better get off my arse and start working.

I seriously doubt this will take much away from it Baph. Ten bucks says the werewolves in this thing look more closely related to the Geico cavemen than anything we would ever put our stamp of approval on.

So, a show about female weremen. That actually sounds pretty interesting, in fact I'm sure that's a genre of Japanese anime, though slightly smaller than a male werewoman.

Wingman: If only it were that interesting, eh? It might actually be wroth watching...

Terastas: I see where you're coming from, that the make-up work will probably be like the old Teenwolf films, or to cite a more contemporary reference, that Wolf on Campus show I've been unfortunate enough to catch whilst browsing channels on satellite telly. They'll look more like very hairy women with abnormally long nails than anything else, most likely.

Hey, come on guys. It's gonna have FEMALE werewolves. Yay! And hey, I loved Big Wolf On Campus!

"2009 is shaping up to be a big year for werewolves with the release of the Benicio del Toro-starring remake of "The Wolfman" and the "Twilight" sequel "New Moon."

^ This got me excited though about next year! Ahwwoooo! :o

Ah, maybe I should try watching it. I was just put off by the make-up, as it seemed rather basic so I was put off by that, I thought it was going to be a cheap cash-in on the novelty value alone. It seems that was a poor assumption though, so I really should watch it.

After all, the old, old Doctor Who stuff had bad make-up but that was okay, so I'm likely just being too harsh.

Sorry about that, Moonkit.

I wasnt offended. :D It was a campy show for sure but for a preteen girl who secretly liked werewolves it was awesome! And I was watching them on YouTube recently...I still like them. 8) They're kinda silly. Like a less serious Buffy.

Ah, I'm glad of that, I do try my best not to.

I actually did like Buffy. I was the odd one out in my family for that, but I thought it was a pretty entertaining show. I think my entry point was Giles though, early on, he really made the show for me. Much as Professor Arturo did in Sliders. I just like that kind of character, they can be jerks, but they're funny and strangely endearing jerks.

Anyway, this new show grows on me the more you talk of it, especially if it's like Buffy. I will have to get around to watching it, since it seems my initial conceptions were wrong and I really do want to give it a fair go. Besides, I've been looking for something new to watch!

(Last post of the night for me now though, I need to kick my forum addiction and hit the hay.)

It was okay to like Big Wolf On Campus for the same reason it was okay to like Dinosaurs. It's okay to love a bad TV show, but somebody still has to admit that it's bad. :P

As for me, I'm predicting the first episode of Bitches will borrow at least a few gags from the Johnny Bravo episode where he dated a werewolf. Somebody probably thought werewolf women living in modern America was a funny concept, but regardless of how outrageous the concept is, they still have to deliver on the material.

I think this sounds absolutely wonderful! Pushing Daisies was a work of genius, so if this show is importing some of the minds behind that then I'm already giving it points in the plus category. Plus, it's the product of Michael Dougherty and I think X-Men 2 was a great movie, so more bonus points. I'm not a fan of Sex and the City, but I'm a fan of some of the concepts it explored and the ground it broke for television shows to be centered around women and women's issues (albeit most of them were rather superficial issues). Buffy and Joss Whedon also managed to make wonderful strides in this same direction from a supernatural perspective so I can't wait to see the two mingle a bit in Bitches.

They had better cast some attractive women instead of three crones and a horse with a human body like Sex and the City did. Then maybe I'll scrape up some interest.
