I don't know how many of you have heard about this program but you guys should look it up and check it out. Anybody who knows of this program tell the pack about it and spread the word on what the goals are and what we do in it. Here's the internet site www.usfirst.org . GO team 2333, RoboSwitchEngage!

Hail, fellow FIRSTer!

I used to be in team 1511: Rolling Thunder. I had to leave when I left high school. I got to keep the sweet black, white and red camouflage pants though.

Well, I only served in one year (2007), and we never won any of the championships in any of the three tournaments we participated in (made it to the 5th bracket in the world championship though, and the team that beat us went on to win 2nd place), but we DID win the regional Chairman's award, as well as three spirit awards.

We almost always won spirit awards, even before I joined; the 'thunder' in rolling thunder is said to be the 1/3rd of the team that is on the sidelines of any match, decked out in nothing but red, white and black, cheering on their team (or any other team that happens to be playing). We were loud people.

Looks like a great organization; the goal is an excellent one, promoting development of intelligence and self-respect. I'm impressed. And, it looks like a great testing ground for 21st century innovations. Maybe the person who invents the final step in the technological singularity some day is right now on one of your robotics teams.

Everyone should really talk to their school boards and present this to them, it will help them recognize the importance of technology helping educate them and help them understand the importance of team work. Oh, we were second place in the Oklahoma city regional and was mad they didn't allow the finalist go to the nationals, only the winners of the regional go. :x Next we'll do better! :howl: :oo
