Tsutomu Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima on a business trip on 6 August 1945 when a US plane dropped the first atomic bomb.
He suffered serious burns and spent a night there before returning to his home city of Nagasaki just before it was bombed on 9 August.

It's a testament to luck and obscene amounts of kick-a** in him that he managed to not only survive both bombs, but is still alive and kicking today.
One of those cases where luck is both bad and good. The good news: You're alive! The bad: You got nuked twice. Within as many days.

Whoa... so this is a true story then? I thought it was just some lame humor. I know it's not PC, but Jay Leno did a joke about this the other night during his monologue. He said the 1st thing the guy did after getting bombed a second time was to fire his travel agent.

Would you want to even be in the same TOWN he was in?

Hell yeah, I'd want to be shoulder to shoulder with him. Maybe then if something bad happens again I can squeeze into his protective force field. Like standing next to a guy with an umbrella, if you will.
