No vehicle explodes that easily except commercial airplanes. In anycase, they have to figure out if the guys is ok, they cant just stand there.

Well, you have to admit, that was a fairly opportune place to crash. Plenty of assitance nearby, and they're (usually) set up for traumatic inuries.
