( "Z"... I really wish you would ease up on the BOLD ... it's a bit much. )
It is most definitely true that there are many things that are perfectly legal which are 100 Times more horrendous than other things you can be sent to jail for.
...however, regardless of what what all the whiners may tell you, no law is created for no good reason. It's sheer delusion to actually think people make up rules and laws for no purpose other than making your life difficult. (Yet I hear so many losers pouting about it as if that were the truth, day after day after day...)
There are times when the laws are short sighted, or slightly/massively broken (but always well intentioned), which require one to bend or break the rules to do the "Right Thing". ...but most people in jail are not there for doing those kinds of things. Most of them are there for doing harmfully stupid things. Most 'trivial' laws, as I see it, are basically Anti-Stupidity laws. If one finds themself breaking those laws frequently, it's likely a pretty clear sign they don't think their actions through very carefully, and should wise up.
...and if you DID think it through carefully, and it IS the right thing to do, and yet is still Illegal... don't wish people would just ignore you...
Justice is worth taking a few hits for.
If your cause is not so noble after all... what the heck do you think you are doing?...Stop That! ...and take a moment to understand why people are getting mad at you. ...there is likely a good reason why you should not be doing that. Learn It.
((More advice, preaching and perspective from the Exasperating Apostrophe...))

I'll have to disagree with that one statement... Well, the word "good" anyway. While I'll grant you that no law is created for no reason, sometimes there is just no way the reason concerned can be considered a "good" reason. There have been many times throughout history when people of principle deliberately stepped outside a law to demonstrate its stupidity.Vuldari wrote:no law is created for no good reason.
Locally the most strongly protested example of bad law was some old law (eventually repealed in the mid 1980s) which made it a criminal offence, not even to do anything, but simply to be gay. There was no good reason for that law ever to have existed in the first place.
(apologies to everyone else for going so far off topic)

Even in those cases, the law was created with good intentions (to preserve the integrity of the human race, based on the beliefs of the one who made the law)...they were just misguided. Like I said...some laws are broken. If you really think injustice is being done, stand up for what you believe in and fight it.Midnight wrote:I'll have to disagree with that one statement... However, don't try to "GET AWAY WITH" stuff. The general attitude behind that statement is one of doing something you know is BAD, but not being punished for it because you are hiding your actions like a coward, or just not caring who pays your dues in your stead. If you are 'getting away with' alot of stuff, your actions are likely often in the wrong.
If you are in the right, be proud of it. Come right out and let everyone know, if you know that, "...I did the right thing, and everyone knows it's true".
Just think it through carefully before you do something really stupid.
...it's far too easy to rationalize stupid actions just because they make things temporarily, "Easier" or momentarily "Satisfying"...until the consequences inevitably catch up with you, that is...
To wish for no consequences is to wish for nothing to really matter. That is a pretty foolish thing to ask for, if you ask me.
(( speaking in general, related to the subject matter of the entire thread ))

The smallest text size I use is #8, which is the smallest that is still clearly legible on my screen. I know different monitors, browsers and default fonts, etc. can make the same text look very different on someone else's computer, so even though that small text might look clear to me, it might not be for everyone else I guess.Teh_DarkJokerWolf wrote:Kinda like you with those annoying tiny letters that you have to use in every damn post you make so people gotta strain to see what you write?..You've got nerve...eh..Vuldari wrote:( "Z"... I'll try to remember not to go any smaller than font-size #9 from now on. ...Sorry...

What about it being against the law to carry icecream in your back pocket, in Ohio or someplace?Vuldari wrote: no law is created for no good reason.

True. Based on his inability to talk for thirty seconds without mentioning something illegal/disgusting and completely unrelated, it would not surprise me to learn he has quite the library of KP. Still, I'd need to confirm he has KP before I submit an anonymous tip to the FBI about it, and the only way I could confirm that would be to break into his home/office.Midnight wrote:Going by what that creep's local equivalent is currently serving jail time for... save your effort. I'd close down every single company that tests on animals. No matter how humanely they see it as.
I'd like to close down every animal farm there is too and replace it with other, more environmentally, plant and animal friendly jobs for those who lost their jobs.
Preferably non violent methods. I got no idea how it'd be done, but I'll wager it's illegal of some sort.
There's billions of essays which could go into this but I'd prefer not to.
I'm lazy and my hands hurt.

...In other news...
If I were to get away with something criminal I would....
Release the source code of every propriety closed source operating system and device driver that ever existed.
I would proudly display it on all television screens for the world to see.
It'd be on myspace, digg, google, wiki, the whole shebang!!! (...and probably a personal website)
People can then see what is going to happen with their data and how much in control the end users of that operating system really are. Heck! With all this released knowledge, I'm sure the open source community would praise me as it would most likely improve the open source desktop experience.
Power to the open source desktop!!!!!

I'd steal twenty-two million dollars of cash from Bill Gate's vault. He makes more money than that every month, so what does he care?
I'd use it to start my own digital studio, and get started on my short film series earlier than ever intended. (Money is always the issue.)
