For lovers of British Sci-Fi sitcoms that lasted 11 years
I have a certain love for sitcoms, one that I don't exactly understand. However, what I really like is when the creators think outside the box and don't create a new spin on the "suburban family genre". Interestingly enough, most of these are either old shows... Or foreign shows. I just found nearly every episode of a rather popular one from Britain, so I thought I'd share it here, in case anyone was interested. They tried bringing it over here once (which to American production companies means remaking it despite having a crapload of premade episodes already
), but they failed because the pilot sucked. Without further ado...
Red Dwarf.
Red Dwarf.

Time to smegging party!
I love Red Dwarf! In particular, I recommend the episode "Polymorph," a take on Alien and similar space horror movies, in which a shape-shifting monster gets loose on board the ship, feeding off peoples' personality traits. I also recommend the later episode "Tikka to Ride," in which the crew inadvertantly foil the assassination of JFK and have to restore the timeline.[/list]
Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

I've actually only seen one episode before now (the first one), but it was awesome, and now that I've found nearly ALL of them, I'm pretty much set. I was so excited I posted them here for everyone else to enjoy, too.

You're welcome. Yeah, before I'd only seen the first episode, and couldn't find anymore, but I guess someone recently uploaded the hell out of that series onto that site. They've got Fawlty Towers, too, I need to check that one out.Lycanthrope wrote:I've heard about the series before, but never seen any episodes. Judging from the first one it's really worth it's time. Hey, there isn't anything wrong with a lot of old American shows. It's the new ones that have a tendency to suck. How many sitcoms do we need about a suburban family? Wasn't The Simpsons, Married... With Children, Full House, etc., enough? Nope, we also need Family Guy, According to Jim, Everybody Loves Raymond, War At Home, The Bernie Mac Show... Not that all of those are bad, I personally like Family Guy, Everybody Loves Raymond, and The Bernie Mac Show, but really, enough with that s***. Get a new idea. Just like we didn't need Hostel after we had Saw and we didn't need FIVE MORE REMAKES OF JAPANESE FILMS ABOUT GHOSTS after The Ring.Kzinistzerg wrote:I also love red dwarf. Such a wonderful show... Why is it that old British shows are infinitely better than old American shows? I mean, really now.

I was going to grouch about this idea of "Red Dwarf" being an "old" show, then I remembered that I watched the first series back in 1988 on an old black and white TV set...
I dunno... I could get quite partial to the idea of FIVE MORE WEREWOLF MOVIES THAT DON'T SUCK after "Freeborn" comes out...ravaged_warrior wrote:Just like we didn't need Hostel after we had Saw and we didn't need FIVE MORE REMAKES OF JAPANESE FILMS ABOUT GHOSTS after The Ring.

Well, as long as they aren't remakes. Why couldn't they just rerelease Dark Water, Pulse, The Grudge, etc., here instead of remaking them?Midnight wrote:I was going to grouch about this idea of "Red Dwarf" being an "old" show, then I remembered that I watched the first series back in 1988 on an old black and white TV set...
