Music ?'s
Was wondering if any one could Recommend any good instrumental, nonvocal, soothing/relaxing music that is available on cd in a store like bestbuy or some place that sells cd's.
I guess you could go with a kind of Dream music or something that you can kind of just go to sleep or day dream while listening to it.
That is the best that I can think of for the kind of music I am looking for.

One only knows that of which they allow themselves to know.

Hmm...well, I always find one of my online friend's music relaxing. David Knopfler. http://www.knopfler.com. His music is gorgeous and while he used to play with Dire Straits, he has struck out on his own (I ordered my CD's directly off him so that's not a CD store thing, but it's worth buying his stuff online). He's a great guy too (Oh what the...I kept bugging him to come to Australia...and on his site it says he's planning future tours!! -hugs David somehow-).
For more accessible music in the shops, his brother (who I'm sure most of you know of) Mark Knopfler is also really relaxing. Dire Straits is more upbeat (But some songs are easy to sleep to...some aren't) so try his solo stuff...Shangri La, that is a great album.
I find the only thing I can sleep to is (oddly) Metallica's older CD's because they must be recorded so nothing pierces your ears...(old school recording) and the Knopfler brothers.
High Hopes by Pink Floyd I must also recommend.
Depends what my mood is in what I'm about to recommend I guess. There are so many songs. I also recommend anything Celtic, ... Irish, Scottish, English type music, medieval music. Enya is good, Loreena McKennitt and a lot of random artists I don't remember the name of. The CD is called "Best of Celtic Circle" and has three CD's, featuring Gary Moore, Bono, and a lot of other songs, including a laid back remake of Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix, Scarborough Fair and some absolutely amazing music.
Also, check out http://wwww.michaelschenkerhimself.com and go to 'Thank u 4". Download the two songs available. They are acoustic songs and very beautiful. Schenker brothers are renowned for Rock n roll in UFO and MSG and The Scorpions...but Michael did an album full of acoustic songs. Two of his songs are free for download.
Anything by Enya ... Watermark for example, and artists like that are relaxing. And if you walk into a National Geographic store, you will probably find a lot of relaxing music with waterfalls and such in the background. Generally you can check it out, listen, and then buy.

Baphnedia makes music just like what you're describing. His stuff is at: www.louislamp.com
I think he's still selling his CDs there. He handed me a copy, and it's very good.

Oh...I love those...and SRV was born on my birthday!! His verson of LIttle Wing is spectacular, although I am obviously a huge Hendrix fan and love his version too. I've heard a more laid back Celtic version of it too, sung by a woman, and they use various instruments but also a guitar. Clapton did a very abstract version when I saw him this year too. I doubt many recognised it but I am SURE it was Little Wing!Templar wrote:Well, I always listen ta Stevie Ray Vaughn's instrumental rendition of Little Wing or the Doors' Riders on the Storm ta mellow...an' that's about as classical as I get....
