Guys, I hate to tell you, but I'm most peeved.... I'm going to have to share my birthday.
My Mom's mare Candy Q just had her foal about an hour ago!

How awesome is that!? I can't wait to go see it! *huge grin*

Ok, my parents just e-mailed me my first glimse at my little birthday buddy!

(They think it's a filly, but it was dark so they aren't 100% on that.)

Well, I havn't gotten to see the baby yet. My parents live a few hours away, but I'm making a special trip next Monday and Tuesday to see her!

Yeah, saw the photo on your Myspace page!

I was in the barn when my friend Julie's mare gave birth, it happened so fast I was caught breathless. She was rolling and I went to check on my boy and I heard a big splash and went over and there's this lil' bay colt!

It's hard to sex newborn horses, surprisingly enough. The boys haven't dropped and the sac looks like a vulva.

I need to ask the parents. He's a good quality paint stud. They told us his brother was pretty well known in the APHA, but this stud sired better foals.

I need to get a picture of Q's other side. She reminds me of Phantom from Misty of Chincoteague. She has the shape of the US in a white patch on her shoulder.

Oooh, she has a map of Western Europe on the left side and a map of the US and Mexico on the other!

I love the babies. Their hair is so soft at that age and they're so sweet. I love it when they lay flat out on their sides to nap in the grass out in the pasture. The first year is so wonderful, yearling horses are just the definition of "darling."

The mare looks like a good momma, too. She'll pass that nice nature on to the baby.

She is a really sweet girl. This is the first paint foal she's had.

Hehe, it is so funny when they lay flat out. Every time my parents and I see one doing that we joke about the poor playing dead foal.

I also love the way they flip those little tails all over the place.
