Well...I had a blast. :D

I did manage to toss duckies at the pack members. Mostly at Silverclaw. :grinp:

I also gave everyone a little gift. Silver and ABrownrigg both got a werewolf candle holder. Silver freaked out when she saw it. She gave me a big hug afterwards. :grinp:

I went to the dealers room and looked around a bit. Didn't find what I wanted. I went to look again with Silverclaw. We was looking at some tails. I looked at some more tails at another section. To my surprise...I found one just like my character's tail!!

It was great to see the person who's going to play as Max. (Drew Waters)

And its great to see some of the ReQuest Entertainment folks again.

Red Victoria is an awesome film!! I can't believe one part was so predictable. I said ABrownrigg's line word for word before he said it!! I was like OMG!!! I never saw that film before!! Or read any script!! (AB heard me cause I said it out loud. This was last year though.)

He made so many improvements to the film. I loved it!! :D

Its great to be among pack members at a convention. I had so much fun.

I hope I can make it next year.

Red Victoria: the Director's Cut

Post by Scott Gardener »

I just got home a few hours ago.

We were a bit more disorganized this year compared to last year, so that we crossed paths a lot and did partial group outings, but there wasn't any one moment where everyone was together in one place. The closest we got was in Cathey's and my room Thursday night--which technically is the day before the convention. We intended to meet there and then go out for food, but by the time everyone was there, all the restaurants were closed, so we ordered pizzas instead. Had quite a blast.

I spent a good portion of Friday and Saturday in Gestalt form. No, I haven't completely lost it; I was in a costume. Behold:

http://s97.photobucket.com/albums/l209/ ... CF0008.jpg

I'm the black one on the right. ShadowSaber, who made all three outfits, is Kyubbi, the red demon fox with nine tails. I'm lousy with names, but the other outfit is as Link from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, reinterpreted into an anthropomorphic form.

Anthony Brownrigg hosted several panels and talked about Red Victoria. Silver was once again the convention's program director. Both were running ragged, and as usual, suffering from sleep deprivation.

Thankfully, all their hard work paid off big-time; Red Victoria was a smash success. Indeed, Anthony will soon be going to L.A. to show it again and then negotiate a distribution deal. With a full length movie in his resume filmed and directed entirely by himself, he'll have additional leverage as far as getting industry support for Freeborn. He told me that he wanted to keep us updated and to reassure us that we were moving forward, but for the past month, he could hardly get online because of his numerous industry negotiations as well as his exhaustive post-production work on Red Victoria. The film this year was strikingly better--not just with polished editing and missing scenes in place, but also with enhanced visual effects, improved opening credits, and even a blooper reel at the end. I can't wait to own a copy.

Brownrigg also promises that Freeborn is his main focus. He expressed wishing that he could fly every one of us to see the very first screening before anyone else. He also talked about us during a panel about marketing one's product--in his case, film. Also there were a web comic artist, a publisher from White Wolf games, and someone else who hardly talked. (Dang it, it's all a blur.) The panel was a good one for me, since I've got a manuscript to get out there.
Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

Thanks for relaying that info from Tony. It's good to see he's still keeping us in the know before every other public entity. I also like those costumes. It almost makes me want to dress up in a full body costume, but anything's possible. Welcome back everyone, and I hope it was a blast.

My only true regret of missing A-Kon this year is simple. I feel like I'm drifing away from those I know personally in The Pack. Meeting in person creates bonds that can't be nearly as strong on a forum or over the phone. I hope that for the next additional year in my far corner of the Southwest, I won't become a stranger to anyone. A-Kon 19 or bust (or a fat loan from my bank). Cheers to next year!

I hope I can make it next year. It all depends if I can pick the week I need for vacation at work. If another driver needs that week off....then I can't go.

I think these guys will let me grab the week I need. I'm going to shoot for 2 weeks so I can take a vacation from my vacation.

Going to work the very next day sucks!! I'm stilll very tired. :(

Oh....I gave Silver and ABrownrigg a werewolf candle holder as a gift.

You should've seen Silver's reaction when she saw it!! I got a big hug afterwards.

This is what it looks like.
