We were in Toys R Us today and stumbled upon a "grow your own pitcher plant predator" kit so we bought it. But the damn things takes months to actually sprout. So I went online and found out more about Carnivorous Plants and I think I may get one (thats already grown). Does anyone know anything about them?
I already looked some stuff up and they need tons of light and acidic soil and bugs at most once a week and a dormant period. But has anyone ever had one of these?
Well, one of the reasons that they are carnivorous is that they grow in poor soil, and this is how they get the nutrients they need.
As I recall; there is only one large active Carnivore; the Venus fly trap. All the rest are passive, using various methods to keep their...food? from wandering back out of their trap systems.

I have five carnivorous plants at the moment. I used to have more but I kind of got sidetracked.
I've 4 pitcher plants (1 hanging one) and a sundew.
They aren't that hard to look after, mine are on my kitchen windowsill which gets a lot of sun in the afternoon, they catch things that fly into the kitchen (I don't have to feed them) and I just make sure the soil is always wet.
You can buy special compost for them or mix your own, if you use ordinary soil and sand together.
People say you should give them rain water and not tap water but as long as there isn't loads of chlorine in yours it'll be okay, I always use tap water for mine and they're fine.
