Some of you have expressed bewilderment as to how some people can see furries in such a negative light...
In my own experience, Some people have interpreted my comments about this topic and how the fandom is perceived as hate speech. I don't hate :} I only gots love for all humanity. But I thought it might be good to show you what some non-furries thought of the ORANGINA commercial. These are animators mostly, but even animators tend towards dislike of "animal heads on human bodies"

No real reason I brought this up except to say that werewolf films are now seen as "furry" and might explain why its hard to get a ww film greenlit.

Well that's there opinion....but I blame the France animators and the company that started making that sexually-aroused orange drink commercial. They are just typical humans who really don't understand the furry fandom. But there are two groups, anthropomorphic animals and furries, they are similar, but different. Man, most humans don't seem appreciate the furry fandom do they? Because sex on animals is used too much on them. I find drawing humans a bit boring most of the time.
What now?! Werewolf films are now regarded as furry films? WTF!

On the flip side of the coin; consider how the Egyptians viewed things: Generally outside of Amon or Ptah; if you didn't have an animal head, you weren't much of a deity.
Modern Furries are a modern phenomenon; brought on perhaps by those hours of cartoons they watched on the electric babysitter.
Makes you wonder about the future, doesn't it-when you look at modern Cartoon/Anime shows.
I suspect in the future that the Furries will be debating the Inu-yashas, Sesho-maru's and Tenchi's at the Cons, twenty years hence.
I wonder; is an Anime' catgirl a Furry (cat) or an Anime' (girl)?

I don't think the makers of the ad had furries in mind; rather, I think it was a "coincidence" of parallel thinking.
Note also that there was nothing in there more lewd than all the soft porn infiltrating our own commercials. Just this morning I was driving home and saw a billboard advertising "This is your beer." I didn't know I had one, but the ad had a woman's torso in a bathing suit thrown in for no apparent reason. And, I'm sure many of you know this one billboard is not an isolated incident. Only thing that ad had that others don't was that the figures in bikinis weren't giggly blonds, which is a welcome change, thank you.

Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...
I really do find it unfortunate that the furry fandom is mostly talked about negatively. It seems that for every random place I happen to find a discussion on furry that ends positively, I find another five that are all against. Some don't even know what the fandom is actually about. This is the reason why I'm more concerned than curious about the future, in reference to Redeye's post.
The concept of animal anthropomorphism has been around for a very long time. The furry fandom was created for the adoption of this concept as the main interest and serve as a way for people with a similar interest in anthropomorphics find each other. I have to admit that it seems most media produced by the fandom has a particular touch to it and not just pure anthropomorphism (either an animal walking on two legs or a quadruped animal that displays human intelligence).
What now?! Werewolf films are now regarded as furry films? WTF!
And that is why I'm concerned. There are too many people out there that do not look at the greater picture and do their own research. Many simply look to their peers and modern pop-culture to do it for them. Some are misinformed to the point that they see any form of animal that walks on two feet as "omgfurry". I saw one negative comment on one of Jim Henson's Dog City episodes for being "furry". The narrow-mindedness of some people is sad. I wouldn't be surprised once we're in the future far enough that Disney has been forgotten and people will consider some of their cartoons as being a furry creation despite the fandom actually being created in 1980.
Edit: As an addendum to my post, I have to say that regardless if a particular movie or TV series has anthropomorphism (or direct "furry influence" by the fandom) in it, why would it be reasonable to be biased against it? If it has a good plot and good characters, something which any pending movie or show needs to be judged for, then that is all that is needed to be considered. Being afraid to air a show just because it may be or is considered "furry" is beyond ridiculous and shows how closed-minded people still are regardless of how liberal and open-minded in comparison to the previous century they claim to be.

We aren't supposed to be talking about this.. Matt..I am really getting tired of you posting this kinda thing. Purposely starting debates an pissing people off. I am not about to let this go any further. You have done things like this before an you know the out come. You been here long enough. I am locking this thread right now because it is only going to cause someone to be offended which I see it is already happening..
