As I stated earlier, the project is in the very early stages of development, and so as far as story goes those details are under wraps...
Neither Matt nor myself want to make a movie that is D-Wars bad, but simply to make the most damned fun movie ever. We want it to be a fun and yet really cool movie. Of course there are butt loads of obsticals to work through as there are many elements in the 30-min series that are unsutible for modern film. It isn't my intension to make a 2 1/2 hr animated cartoon, but take the best elements of the series and blend them with a tight damn excellent story that will make Michael Bay's half-assed Transformers script weep for its lameness...
It is all about transcending the genre. Matt, as well as myself, just got fed up with all of these 80's era cartoon-to-awful-movie remakes, and decided to start working on one of our favorates before corporate Hollywood destroyes our childhoods.
The reality is, it is going to be a long arduous process as well literally have to tackle what to put in the movie, and what not to. We have to over come the hurdles of bringing a 30 minute episode by episode cartoon to the big screen. Keep all the charm... give it heart warming humor, and polish it with an extra coat of cool paint to give it that polished glossy shine without making it look stupid.
