The soon-to-be-unleashed Red Victoria got me thinking about why I'm in a lull of composing... aside from reasons that the US Gov't gives me to not write. So, here's a little bit about my muse:
She does such wonderful things, and yet, she's at least as nutty as you.
- She wakes me up at 3am to work on music,
- She gives me the best new material in the shower (where it is the least likely place for me to sit at a computer and compose - or even to write the music onto paper)
- She hands me a script for a series that would make Heroes look like Candy Mountain, instead, I take the script, and do some writing, turn it into a world... and play games with it.
- She's a whip-wielding dominatrix of creativity. God I love her.
My muse...

I refer to mine as my "Midnight Muse" because he tends to get me in the mood to write around midnight when I should really be going to bed.
Other then that I have my most creative breakthroughs in the passenger seat on long car rides with good music on.

Hahah, same here. My muse always gives me the best inspiration in the middle of a weeknight, when I have to wake up soon in the morning for school.MoonKit wrote:I refer to mine as my "Midnight Muse" because he tends to get me in the mood to write around midnight when I should really be going to bed.

That, or in my dreams, where I remember them for awhile after waking up, and then forget them later. "I knew I had a great idea, I just can't remember it!!"

Don't be put off if what you read in thse morning is: "Socks can be starched and used as hand puppets" or " there is an odd smell in the room"... keep at it, things will happen...

Dream diaries are a lot of fun. I have one from a couple of years ago and whenever I read it, the dream comes back in vivid detail. Now, I usually write down only the ones that make an impact on me...but you have to keep at it. If that dream is on the tip of your brain and you cant quite see it, dont give up! Try and remember. And the more you write them down and vividly remember them...the more you'll remember.RedEye wrote:Get a pad of paper and write them down! Let me introduce you to the Writer's muse...
She wakes you from your restful sleep, her inspiration to impart;
And sits at elbows' edge while you try to do your part,
By filling pages with her gift of inspiration's art.
She chains you to your chair and forces you to type,
Whether or not you need to sleep some few hours of this night.
Months pass- and she won't leave you
Not 'till you've writ each word that from her soft and silken lips
Your spirit has perused. You offer her sweet language up,
To be set in printers type. And wait and wait for word to come
Of publication's light. Then when word at last does come,
That your effort has been been read; and you beg leave to go
The answer's always quite the same: "This was published six months ago."
I still do.

(Muse? That seems to be music, dark movies, and for some odd reason... me.
I'm kidding. I'm just the guy that annoys him until he does something.
I try my hardest to keep him at it. So far, it's not helping. He's started on an older story of his. The idea's an interesting one, but he still needs more to it. He's also begun a "fifth chapter of The Crow" series. About a female Crow. That was a twisted sweet movie, i gotta tell ya. Anyway, so far, his muse is being a fickle witch. He hasn't been able to come up with any interesting ideas as of late, or when he does, they're always out of reach of a computer or paper. Then again, he is kind of worried his mind is about spin off into madness, but, as some authors will tell you, being on the edge of madness makes better reading material than sanity anyday.
Right RedEye?)
Yeah, i'm still wrapping my head around the Pack Story Lewis started. He's basically given me the reins for now, and i'm trying my best to not think about it, but, the harder you try not to think about something, the more you think about it. Still, i do like the way the second half, the one i'm putting on DA for fear of getting kicked off this sight for as much blood and gore that's in it, is coming along pretty well. I need to make him help me finish it, so i can focus on my stories. Ahhh, this sucks! I need to think of something good, but so far, nothing i write sounds good to me anymore, so, i save waht i wrote, and erase it, save the new copy under a different name, and start again. Still, i think the new Three Days Grace, "One-X" CD i got'll help me some. It's like they were watching all four Crow movies while making it, the songs match up that good. Ah, sorrow, dispare... anger, hatred and wrath... all good stuff if you ask me.

No what you have are bullets in the hope that when your guns are empty I'm no longer standing. Because if I am, you'll all be before you've reloaded.
