I can agree to a point. To me the best werewolf and vampire fiction portrays the creatures in a certain fashion and to deviate from that fashion (which in my opinion is the best) tends to ruin the impact of the movie or book about the creatures that I am taking in.
But, that same logic gave us Cursed and Underworld. There's a lot of assumptions in the horror genre that we'd like to see NOT done with werewolves, as there's a large community of werewolf fans and therians who have our own ideas of them that have almost never been done in movies.
In fact, the main accomplishment of this forum is to keep Freeborn from being yet another stock werewolf B-movie. The Brownriggs and Cashel had some innovative ideas, but at first thought they'd have to settle, until a few hundred thousand posts here showed them that they weren't alone in wanting to see things done differently.
