Click and Clone
An amusing way to learn the process of cloning. Fast and simple. The rest of the site is worth seeing too.

Re: Click and Clone
Cute. Now, if we could only do that with Wolves and Humans...waitaminnit!
No nucleus, so the egg wouldn't know what it was. Add one species to another, and what do you get (if the clone takes?)
Either a very social human, or a really retarded wolf.
Maybe a Wolf with thumbs...

Red-Eye: From my basic highschool knowledge of genetics, I'd think you have to splice the DNA before you can create any hybrids. Otherwise, the egg will just grow into whatever DNA was donated -- assuming, of course, that an egg will accept another specie's DNA.
Ohh, and this was nerdily enjoyable.

Re: Click and Clone
Yeah, assuming the clone did take, It wouldn't be a hybrid. It might have some minor cellular anomalies if the egg cell was from a different species, but overall there's nothing to say that it wouldn't, due to genetics, be anything other than a genetically identical copy of the donor of the genetic materal.
Sooo if somebody were to try this between a wolf and a human....WHY they'd do this, I don't know.... one thing's for sure: if the wolf gave birth to a human child, she'd probably be pretty damn confused.

Which? The Wolf, The Child, or the Veteranarian?Howlitzer wrote:Yeah, assuming the clone did take, It wouldn't be a hybrid. No, mopre like a horiffic abomination taht can barely move and should be mercy-killed. Because I think the sets of genes might interact very badly.RedEye wrote:Cute. Now, if we could only do that with Wolves and Humans...waitaminnit!

There's only ONE set of genes involved in a clone. They strip the egg cell of it's DNA, then insert the DNA from the cell being cloned..... the original DNA from the egg cell IS NOT THERE. It's not much more than a shell.
In fact, the DNA is, among other things, responsible for telling the cell HOW to make MORE material for the cell to grow and eventually divide. If the egg cell to begin with was a Wolf egg cell, but the DNA was human.... the Human DNA is calling the shots, and over time there wouldn't be enough of the original Wolf egg cell to make much of a difference in anything.....the human DNA would tell the cell to rebuild and divide into more HUMAN cells. The makings of the original egg cell doesn't do much of anything, it would just divide into all the future cells into increasingly smaller amounts...
kinda like taking a drop of red food coloring and a drop of blue food coloring and mixing them.....you get purple, something in between... but if you continue adding more red food coloring, but not blue, it will eventually look entirely red. The blue will be spread too thin to do much of anything.

Re: Click and Clone
You'd get a human raised by wolves, assuming you could pull it off. At least, you'd get a human embryo that would implant into a wolf rather than another human. All this assumes that you could debug all the hundreds of biochemical things that would go wrong and lead instead to rejection.
Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

I can see it now: "Wolf Female gives birth to human baby. Mate suing for divorce on grounds of infidelity."
