Eviction Notice
I got served today by the US Government. Unlike civilian eviction notices, my letter is dated today, tells me that I am evicted, and have to be out of the building by the end of the business day.
Also, the new place they do not have locks in the doors yet, but are 'supposed' to by the end of the day. I'll move all my stuff into my truck and will likely be offline until the move is complete (and that I order internet - as it will no longer be no-cost).
I'll see y'all soon.

Re: Eviction Notice
Holy crap... How in the world did this happen?
(I know you probably won't be able to answer that for a while, but does anyone else have any ideas?)

Re: Eviction Notice
Sorry to hear that.
Crazy, they do not believe in giving people much time.
What makes them think someone can just move out in a few hours?

Re: Eviction Notice
As I've said before, people don't seem to be able to balance their budgets. Then again, the economy could be the reason, and he might be busting his a** just to barely scrape by.
We look forward to seeing you back on line soon.

Re: Eviction Notice
Insanely ironic considering you've served under the Military....
Here's hopin' you return soon! You're out only resident dragon after all.

Re: Eviction Notice
Ahh! It really did only take a few hours. To correct a few misconceptions:
- I am neither barely scraping by (but I COULD be doing way, way better);
- The eviction was from housing that I do not pay for (nor do I pay for the new place).
- The only reason why I'm on the internet, is because I still pickup a wireless signal from the old building. Yay me. The signal is very, very low, so my availability in IRC is probably going to be nada, or close to it.
- I didn't move very far; I can look across the parking lot and see my old building.
And yep - they don't kid around when you've just got a few hours to move. Ugh! Everything is sore!

Re: Eviction Notice
What we're seeing now a lot of us renters getting evicted because their landlords couldn't keep up. That's what I'd initially presumed.MattSullivan wrote:As I've said before, people don't seem to be able to balance their budgets. Glad to hear everything is at least better than it sounded Baphnedia. Good luck with the move.

Re: Eviction Notice
It's possible to be in a state of readiness for moving. Just as long as clutter is not abundant, and most of the belongings are already in boxes, it can be rather easy. Everything I own can fit in one room, but the only hassle is the two desks, the futon, and massive dresser (furniture that can't be disassembled). For me, going through a pile of papers is as simple as tossing the entire bundle into a fire barrel.

Re: Eviction Notice
You're less a rat than a ferret, Moonkit. I have the same problem. But, 13 moves (from room to room, building to building) on this base in the past 18 months, I keep 90% of my stuff in storage, 9% of my stuff in my truck, and live with the bare necessities these days.

Re: Eviction Notice
I can only hope to reach that level of efficiancy soon. I've been rummaging through my closet for the past few days. Though I'd prefer to keep my car spick and span rather than use it as storage. Fuel effeciancy and all. I remember the back of your truck when you stopped in Albuquerque. You had to do some digging to find a copy of your CD. Perhaps its time to clean it out with a hose?Baphnedia wrote:You're less a rat than a ferret, Moonkit. I have the same problem.
