Fun Fact...
"Beetlejuice" is derived from "Betelgeuse," a corruption of what was thought to be "Bait al-Jauza," or "Armpit of the Central One." Actually, Arab astronomers originally called it "Yad al-Jauza," or "Hand of the Central One," but, someone was either careless, or sloppy in their handwriting, and that was compounded by knowitall Renaissance scholars who really didn't know much...

Still on-topic for me, in a way. Back in 1990 I was a werewolf for Halloween, and I used a Betelguise-inspired voice and personality.

And to really take it full circle, I myself am both careless and sloppy! 8)
(as should be obvious from my misspelling of Betelgeuse!)

Thats why I brought this up. I know dogs foam at the mouth from excessive barking and growling. That 1st werewolf in Van Helsing wasn't doing that.
Well, to be fair, when we see the first werewolf, he was expecting a meal.

I can just imagine a scene in Freeborn, where the werewolf in human form rings a doorbell, and suddenly starts drooling uncontrollably.

I wonder what he will do if he hears the sound of a can opener.

You know the commercials with the Kool-Aid man? Probably something along those lines.

That would make a funny scene in a werewolf movie.

A dog owner opening a can of dog food, but instead of the dog running in, a werewolf comes crashing through the wall with its tail wagging.

And while the werewolf is losing traction, the dog owner looks at the can of dog food and notices this phrase.

I was wondering if we are going to see the werewolf drool all over the place when in Gestalt form. I'm not saying I want to see it or that I don't want to see it. Just wondering.

The 1st werewolf in Van Helsing had saliva pouring out of its mouth. I'm not sure why. Maybe hollywood thinks it looks cool to see a werewolf slobber all over the place. I didn't notice the 3rd werewolf slobbering at all.
I believe that one reason Hollywood started this idea is because most monster costumes had mouth interiors that looked unrealistic. The mouth interior is consistently the weakest part of monster costumes. One of the obvious differences between a costume mouth and a real mouth is that a real mouth looks wet inside. So you ladle some goo in there. If Freeborn has any scenes with costume or animatronic werewolves with the mouths open, they will need to put some wetness in there.
However, it should just be painted on the surfaces shortly before each take, not lobbed on by the bucket. And you certainly shouldn't put in enough that it is slithering out all the time. Also, standard Hollywood monster spit doesn't look real to me, unless it is on an alien, because we all know that spit doesn't really look like that. Something like egg whites, painted on in a THIN layer, would give the right look.

Some keen observations, Jamie! :jawdrop: I'd never really thought that much about what goes into a movie monster's mouth (pun intented).
