Ok, OK. I'll admit it. My words are quite edible about the newer Battlestar Galactica. I've been following the series.

They did the right thing, remaking the series substantially. That way, the original stands, and the new one doesn't compete with it.

And, while it may not have the London Symphony Orchestra, I've grown to find the new soundtrack very haunting. I've found myself borrowing the characters as mental actors for various other stories I've been reading, so the cast is very strong afterall. The ultra-realism of the show has also influenced my imagining, including how I depicted writing scenes in Lycanthrope II: Revelations set in space. So, I stand here now, eating my words.

The new Battlestar Galactica is a great show. Dare I say it, better than the original.

I vastly prefer SG1 over the new SGA due to the rather small fact of Jack O'neil... I adored the character... and they've tried to clone him in the SGA cast but he came out darker haired and less sarcastic...*shudders*

Story based i fear that like any series, they tend to just drain themselves dry... it's the same basic good guy kicks bad guy 7.350.000 times over again... But the road they take towards that is usually quite enjoyable.

so.... i'm "jack-biased"....

Same actor, same basic character concept, but not the astronaut John Creighton per se. Stargate and Farscape are different storylines. But, he's playing this character with a lot of the same feel, and it actually works.

It's best to think of SG-1 today as a spin-off. (Why they're not calling it "Stargate: The Ones About the Auri", "Stargate: Dogma", or something, I don't know, except perhaps they're reluctant to lose name recognition. So much was changed in the last season--major cast shuffling. Not to mention all the cumulative changes over the years already. I'm still used to thinking of General Hammond in charge of the base. But, all your base are belong to someone else these days.
