And you know what? I'm glad Country Western is defined purely by white skin and stupid hats and is therefore not directly related to R&B. That way I can listen to Tracy Chapman, Buddy Guy and Jack Johnson 100% guilt-free.
Not all country stars wear cowboy hats and are white. Those two traits hardly encompass the entire genre.
And guilt? What guilt? There's no reason to feel guilty for listening to country.

Then what does make Country Western? Or more accurately, how does it differ from the Blues, Rhythm & Blues, and/or Soft Rock?Excelsia wrote: Not all country stars wear cowboy hats and are white. Those two traits hardly encompass the entire genre.
And uh... I to be the devil's advocate, but can you name so much as one Country singer that is/was black or hispanic? (The guy from Ireland in Nashville Star does not count as being politically correct)
And since I'm still living with my brother:
Band: Crystal Method
Album: Vegas
Song: Trip Like I Do
