Post by Teh_DarkJokerWolf »

everything was paid for and taken care of as far as wherever you'd decide to be what would you choose? Describe what you'd like to be around and what kind of environment?

I myself have dreamed of for a long time to live in a place where there are seemingly endless fields of swaying grasses, great pine filled forests, snow capped mountains, streams, ponds or lakes filled with crystal clear waters, wolves that I can hear howling every nite...somewhere I could sit down by a lakeside and fish for hours on end with no distractions, go camping every night, go exploring through various woods and forests, do some photography...i could go on forever...*sigh*

what about you all or are you happy with your current residence?

An environment like you describe; specifically, the forests, probably but not necessarily on the slopes of the mountains. Somewhere that snowed regularly every winter. Ideally, I'd live without a house or anything that breaks the natural state of the area.

Oh, and everything gets paid for? Then I'd have a team of mercenaries on call if someone came uninvited and/or infringed upon the wilderness. And I'd bribe all the politicians I could contact to do what I want; namely, restricting development and supporting the environment.

A smal cabin out near the wilderness, but not neccissarily in th middle of nowhere. I'm a gamer, and i love my fast food and Wal-Mart, so i would need access to civilization and cable, but i do like my woods and nature too...

so a compromise of the two.
And a SMALL house.
Deviantart? Why'd I do this?

If I had the choice, I'd either return to Germany, specifically in the German Alps, or to Harrison Hot Springs, Canada (in British Columbia).

The wilderness option is looking pretty good. Seemingly endless forest, grasslands, rolling hills... :D
But for mine, I'd have a couple of extra things: First off, there'd need to be a beach nearby, or at least a large lake of some sort (for swimming, surfing, etc). Second, I'd build an average-sized house, but bury half of it in a hillside. The other half would just be decking/verandahs, showing off the views of the area. (oh and I'd put in screens & louvres, so I could shut the place up in winter)

And if it's all paid for...

Personally, if I could live in peace anywhere (as a werewolf of course), I would definitely scoute out the most remote forest I could find...

One that gets a lot of rainfall, because I love when it rains, and one that has literally a never-ending expanse of trees.

I dream about stuff like that all the time...Enough trees to hide in, yet a good veiw of the sky, because I have a cloud and moon obssesion heh.. :)

My ideal would be very close to what everyone else has been describing.

On a Hill...surrounded by trees...near a lake...Wilderness...but near enough to civilization that I don't have to go too far to shop for food, clothes and cool tech toys.

...I've even drawn up several rough concepts for how I would want my house to be built. ...with a large Greenhouse room (making up at least half the house), directly adjacent to the living room, with full grown trees inside, a garden and a stream running through the middle with a tiny bridge over it. ...and a small, bi-level study/library with ample skylight lighting. ...actually...most of the house would be naturally lit with windows and skylights galore, and tall cielings.

All with an ovelooking view of a nearby lake with a river or a large stream running into it. ...and no major roads or cities within a 50 mile radius...only rural towns, and maybe farmland.

...yeah...if only money and reality was not a problem.

Something like the Swiss Family Robinson house, only higher off the ground, located in the Amur Valley instead of a pirate island, and at least one enclosed living space with lots of solar pannels on the roof to keep it warm in the winter and power my laptop. :D

I live in a stuffy apartment in a city that's getting increasingly Californicated, hell no I'm not satisfied with where I live!! :eyebrow: I was raised in suburbia but the country calls to me.

I'd build a cedar log pagoda on a nice headland overlooking a coastline. Trees to shield from the wind, cypresses, a little cove beach down the cliffside in the lee of the bluff. Copper shingles on the roof and just enough room for a secret garden. I'm an unschooled armchair architect and I've drawn up several house plans, mostly roundhouses with round Hobbit-house type front doors.

I'd probably have an orangerie too, grow Meyer lemons, orange tree, date palm, hibiscus and cacao in it year-round.

Locate the barn back in the trees so Tagie and his barn buddies could have some shelter from the rain when they go out.

I keep getting this vision of a 2-3 acre pasture hemmed in by big dark trees with the house tucked into the treeline. I know there's patches of land like that here in Lane County, about halfway to the coast. I know coastline property is WAY out of reach financially so I guess I'll have to settle for the forest dwelling lifestyle... :|

I want a big house and my own island in the Caribbean. Either that or some remote place as far away from people as possible. Preferrably somewhere cold. Anarctica?

I didn't say that Ralith Lupus :P I was saying those are the types of environments I'd like to live in, I wasn't saying it all had to be there...Yeeesh, I am 21 years old and know all about different regions and stuff like that. I like to read on nature and conservation and all that good stuff and I know where these places are that have all that I mentioned, even if it's not on a mountain tops, it's still in the same state...I asked where you guys wanted to live, that's all because I have my dream places like everyone does :( *sigh*

Someplace tropical, like Hawaii. Hawaii itself would work well, since almost all of my relatives live over there. The trick would be locating myself somplace where they don't come visit all the time, but I could figure that out.

Lupin, that's pretty easy. Go to Ni'ihou (or however that little westermost Hawaiian island is spelled). Mmmm... there or Molokai. I haven't been there in ages!

I'll take the moon.

Really, I mean it. Of course, I'd have to give it some kind of atmosphere (preferably a really REALLY dense one). Then, I would pick and choose my favorite plants and animals from various parts of the world and put them all up there together. Undoubtedly, some species wouldn't make it, simply because other animals might be better than they are at surviving, plus it might be the wrong climate. But, ulimately, I would have my own little world full of many of the things I like. Evolution would have a kick start, because of the dense atmosphere and reassortment of creatures and plants.

Then, I would pick people to bring up there with me. They would all be:
-really intelligent
-really healthy (as in, no hereditary diseases)
-naturally inclined towards athleticism
-English speaking
-well educated (there's a difference between that and intelligent)
-probably some form of Christianity

The system of government would center around an elected monarch. All subsequent monarchs would also be elected. We would probably be capitalist, but I don't know that for sure.

Ewwwwww, eugenics

Anyway, a little cottage in the woods is also my thing, with enough technological conveniences available to not freeze in winter ;)

I guess it isn't surprising that a lot of people interested in werewolves are also interested in living at somewhere like this...

Hey that sounds pretty good to me too.
My ideal would probably be very similar to what's already been described.
in the woods, near a lake or other body of water, internet access and the ability to have stuff shipped to me, etc.

As a side note, if it was possible to alter genetics, the first 3 things would be moot. That would be awesome, that way I could just pick people that I liked. :D

(as for the religion thing...it's just easier that way. The number of wars that have been fought over religion since the existence of man is astounding. I just wouldn't want that anymore. Having everyone be pretty much the same avoids that, to an extent. Of course, religion wars can still happen, such as if some people split off and form a new religion, but for the most part, we'd be religion war free. :D It's not that I have anything against other religions.)
