Duckfest 05

I didn't see this posted anywhere, and I thought it deserved mention here.

Duckfest 2005, the 3rd annual meeting of rubber duck collectors, was held on Saturday, August 20, 2005 in Irvine, California. It was a roaring, or rather quacking, success. The event attracted the largest gathering of rubber duck collectors in history. Nineteen people attended including four people who flew in from Washington, Illinois, Mississippi, and New York. The rest of the attendees hailed from around Southern California.

Sweet! I want to go to the Duck toss!

Well over where I'm from we toss our rubber duckies in the Ohio River and call it the Rubber Duck Regatta. You sponser a duckie, and if yours crosses the finish line first, you win a prize. Last time I beleive it was a truck. All proceeds go towards feeding the hungry.

We have something like that here, too. Probably because the UofO team mascot is The Ducks.

(Though after meeting several of them I think "Mouthbreathing Baboons" would be a better fit)
