Bizarre Magazine/Werewolves

Post by Kate »

Hello. My name is Kate, and I'm writing a piece on werewolves and transformation for Bizarre Magazine, based in London. I'd really like to hear from anyone willing to be interviewed for the feature. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, that's fine. I just want to present a balanced point of view, and feel that a couple of interviews with members of this forum would provide an insight into this world.

The piece will be a history of the werewolf legend, werewolves in popular culture, and will touch upon the phenomenon of people who feel they are werewolves or who have affinity with werewolves. The sexual aspect will be touched upon, but not central to the piece.

Sorry if you feel threatened or worried about my approach. It's not meant to be aggressive or to intimidate. As I'm sure you all know, this is a tricky topic to research and find people to talk to me about. Please mail me if you're interested, if not, I wish you well and thanks for reading this message. I have been open and honest about what I'm interested in, and I hope you appreciate this.

I'm on kate_hodgesATdennis.co.uk

replace the AT with @ when replying. Thanks.

Well, to begin with, the users on this forum are mostly 'werewolf fans' and refuse to believe in any aspect related to werewolves. But I think some 'therians' including myself are willing to cooperate with you.

Just tell me what you want to hear and I'll give a answer. I've been into werewolves about 9 years so I think its fair for me to say that I know a lot about 'them'.

I'd have no issues with being of assistance on this number! I haven't been into werewolves quite as long as Morkulv, though.

But hey... I've been fascinated by the idea for long enough. :)

Personally, I'd recommend just posting your questions here. Anyone who chooses to reply can do so, and you can choose whichever comments you want.

I agree with that. Post your questions here and there will be enough people to answer them.

If she wants the interview really bad she'll come back. And I agree with Excelsia about posting the question right here. its not gonna make much of a difference if she were to meet someone in person. And besides She can get alot more response out of us in here and people will be more comfortable talking.

This nice lady showed up at the Transformation Board and asked a few questions. People acted like a bunch of paranoid morons. I can confirm that she has already done pieces on furries and what she is really after is more mainstream and based on werewolves alone.

It's worth emailing her as she is willing to change names etc. Very worth it.

I can certainly understand why she'd want to 1 on 1 interview rather than just post questions here. When using live chat (i thinking like msn, aim, etc.) more specific questions can be asked and answered, and she'd be able to get the members here to elaborate more on certain details of thier openions.
Besides, forums have a tendancy to get side-tracked, and peoples responses to posted questions would be influenced by previous responses.

I've picked up a couple issues of Bizarre. It's legit, and a fun read. They have good well-written and -illustrated articles and as a rule, aren't pansies about it.

If there's a Tower Books near you, check it out there. That's where I got mine.

Can you send me a copy of the next issue so I can read my interview? :grinwiggle:

Sorry...don't live near a Tower Books anymore :(

Or heck, Morkulv, ask the magazine! They'll probably send you one anyway if they use your quotes in the article. "Comp the contribs" is a universal in magazine publication.

I would refer you to my book for extended discussions of the bits of folklore I'm fascinated by. Do you know that Bizarre Magazine had an article on werewolves in 1999? I own the issue, I've got it around here somewhere. The author is Joe McNally, the title "All Right Nowooooooooooo!" and the issue is #21 June 1999.

Note:

Next issue of Bizarre Mag released on 28 of March will include the werewolf-article.

Update: I searched the entire country for the mag, but I couldn't found it. I also visited the largest magazine-store in the country, but they told me that they knew the magazine, but he told me that it doesn't get delivered in the Netherlands anymore for some reason.

No luck over here guys... :(
