Design team for werewolf game.
Hey, guys. sorry i haven't posted here in a while. i've been thinking about this whole thing and... well, i'll just copy and paste the PM i sent Anubis, see how everyone else feels about it.
i was thinking, while we're waiting for UE3 to come out. why don't we make a
werewolf mod for oblivion? and i don't mean just the ability to becomme one, i mean adding
a bunch of werewolf quests, and places and a couple factions, too! here are some of my
ideas for werewolf powers/abilities/ect.
-
lycanthropic powers
regeneration: when you contract lycanthropy you gain an extra bar. this bar fills up as you
attack things and slowly goes down over time, if you are wounded the bar goes down faster
but you regenerate health.
transformation: a werewolf should start out with the ability to become a wolf at will, but
should be forced into gestalt form when both moons are full, atleast until they become more
powerful (as a werewolf, not a character. i.e. spending time practicing werewolf abilities.
as opossed to going up to level 20, contracting lycanthropy, and being "u83r-1337-h4x" off
the bat).
-
normal form abilities
Hightend senses: detect life and detect undead 10 feet.
-
wolf abilities
fortify athletics (whatever number would keeps things balanced)
destroy equiped armor: any armor equiped to the player during transformation will be damaged
beyond use, and will need to be repaired.
hightened senses: detect life and detect undead 50 feet (if the smoke energy color for the
two abilities are not different, we should change that ourselves. i don't think it takes a
blood-hound to tell the difference between the smell of something thats alive and the smell
of something thats dead).
tracking: the ability to track things at any distance (maybe we could use a trail of smoke
along the ground for this).
Gestalt abilities
fortify hand-to-hand (whatever number would keeps things balanced)
fortify athletics (whatever number would keeps things balanced)
fortify acrobatics (whatever number would keeps things balanced)
hightened senses: detect life and detect undead 30 feet.
tracking: the ability to track things at any distance.
destroy equiped armor: gestalt fomrs can wear some armors as long as they are flexible
enough, everything else is damaged beyong use.
-
i'm getting tired of typing, so i'll end it here. feel free to change these up as you see
fit.

Okay, lets be pratcical.
You need several things for a good game:
1) a storyline. The plot is the huge part. No since in starting a game if you have no where to go with it. Often times this requires heavy thinking and calculateing because you need to figure out the HP of eanimies, eairly to late, and how much HP's you have and gain, what charactors you'll have, NPC's. It's not something as simple as "I want a werewolf game, so I'll make one, there!" It's a complicated process.
2) Once you have everything figured out, look for your game engine. For this I sugjest a spirt based game, lke this: http://www.gamemaker.nl/index.html because if you can pull it off, this would be the easist and best way to go on a low profit.
3) Get artists and designers. With the sprite one, you could learn it yourself, but if your not a artist I sugjest getting a sprite artist, or just an artist because any artist can make sprites, really.
4) Once you have all these start putting the whole thing into action. Start slow, playing it every now and again to make sure it's working. You might want to get an engine where cheats can be put in, because alot of people enjoy those.
5) You got yourself a game, give it to a few people to see how they like it, if it's liked enough sell it, if not just freely throw it around and try again.
Saying "I wanna make a game but everyone else has to do it for me, kthxbi" just dosn't work.

Obviously, what you guys want, is a complex game, with a complex story-line. But we can't. Why? Simple:
* I am not a professional educated gamedesigner, and I doubt you'll find any 'real' gamedesigners on the internet willing to do a game as complex as you guys want it.
* There is a lack of tools. Sure, I'm using A6 (wich has cost me about 100 Euro's), but it will graphicly be as good as Half-Life 2 (at maximum). So no Doom 3-graphics and licenced crap.
I think we should be just continue doing what we were, and that is making a videogame and explore scripts and other stuff 'along the way'. Trust me, it can turn out into a real fun game. As long as we are motivated enough to make this work, and not expecting too much of it, it shouldn't be a problem.
Did I mention I can create textures by the way?
If anyone wants his/her face in the game then give me a howl.
Hehe.

We need to consolidate our efforts. otherwise this whole thing would fizzle out.
So ppl... If you lack the programs or skill, the least you can do is try to think up of a good storyline... and maybe a few concepts in the game. ie: types of weapons, enemies maps ect.

The story:
The world is under control by some crazy scientist (always blame the scientist
) and has created a army of werewolves. And ofcourse its your job to blast all those woofs and the guy responseble for the whole mess. And ofcourse you'll get to be a werewolf along the way.
Good enough?

Cmon, shurely you can do better than that, and why make the werewolves bad, lets make it a little more believable.Morkulv wrote:The story:

Hows this.
Your a werewolf and somehow you accidently exposed yourself, the government finds out about you and wants you at all cost dead or alive, he starts sending out men and police to capture and you and you have to fight your way out of the country, from US, to the Jungles of Costa Rica(or some other place) dodging incoming military militians. And along the way you will have dozens of werewolf allies.
Every government degenerates when trusted to the rulers of the people alone. The people themselves are its only safe depositories. - Thomas Jefferson

what about this
You're apart of a team of werewolves from, lets say WOLF
has to go down into a HUGE! underground complex thats been sealed off over ten years from an unknown lab accident. to retrive some very valuable peice of equiptment or some thing. but you enounter an biorobotics blob that killed every one on you're team and it can send cyborg after cyborg at you to so it can harvest your parts. kinda like that movie "virus". your goal is get that peice of equiptment distory that base and above all get out alive. it'll be kinda cool if we make it feel and like doom but works like resident evil with out the bad camera angles.
i'm thinking this would be good because indoors are easier to do than out doors for video games.

one problem with that COPY WRITE! i don't want to buy permission to do a fan game. besides it would be more statisfieying if it was an original idea.Machine-Whisperer wrote:Just pure action flicks for you bunch ain't it,,, I recon the original Werewolf the Apocylipse Storyline is more effective... (the original World of Darkness is much better than the new one)
