I'd like to watch the trailer, but it won't seem to play.
I have the latet version of Quicktime (just downloaded yesterday), but I've been staring at the blue Q in the black box for 3-minutes, the page says it's "done" and nothing is happening. (I'm leaving it open, just in case it's still loading...but it would be nice if I could get some indication of activity if it is.)
Ah well...
I think it has been just long enough since it happened that I am emotionally prepared to see a dramatized representation of that day, and the days of the aftermath.
Please Forgive the Occasional Outburst of my Inner Sage ... for he is Oblivious to Sarcasm, and not Easily Silenced.

uhuh.. do you really think attacking And occupying Iraq, and then threatening Iran has much effect at stopping terrorism.
The more this war drags on, the more the people become enraged, Hence more terrorism. Had the american Really wanted to stop Bin laden, they would have done it much more covertly than by invading 2 countries.

That being said...I hope they don't expect to make alot of money on this. People are too damned sensitive. They won't go see it.

My honest first thought?
"Wow. Bush's approval rating really is that low."
Seriously, the timing of this is horrible. Wether their motivations were based on profit or politics, they should have at least waited until either 2011 or until the new tower(s) at the WTC location are completed (whichever comes first). It looks like either a film company couldn't wait to cash in on the disaster, or the Bush regime financed this thing to use 9/11 emotions to boost their approval ratings. Either way, it's pretty tasteless.

I was in 6th grade when 9/11 happened too.
No offense set, but I don't think America or anyone else is going to get over it. This was the very first time the U.S has been attacked on our own soil. You would know this if you were taking world History in High School.
We've always had to go over seas to help somebody fight, but this time the attack was directed at us and nobody else.
Set I really don't mean to be rude, but your little outburst was uncalled for. Especially on this matter. You say we've been mourning way too long, so how about to tell that to the victims famlies and see what kind of response you get. You also might want to consider the thought of anyone on this forum who might of had family who worked at the world trade centers. Its obvisous that you don't think before you speak.
If you feel so strongly about this; then go pitch a fit somewhere else.
You don't know how much pain thousands of people have gone through.
To everyone, this is the first time I have verbally acted out toward someone on this forum. I'm usually pretty quiet, but I can't be quiet when it comes to someone disrespecting this. I hope you all understand and forgive me if I took it too far.

Set: People are still mourning Jonestown and Pearl Harbor. 9/11 was worse than both of those. And I have a friend who watched the towers fall from his living room window, he still has a haunted look and PTSD over it.
I agree with Terastas, they should all have waited. Sending Moussaoui to the oubliyet isn't closure, showing Bin Ladin's bullet-riddled body will signal the beginning of closure. Personally I think, with Oliver Stone's proclivities, is that this is his way of spin-doctoring the events.
That having been said...that's only an opinion. I won't firm up an opinion until it's out but I still think the timing is bad.

Well, I don't know about that.
You see, Iraq is made up of a series of underground tunnels. I mean the whole state is full of them. Thats why Bin ladin hasn't been caught yet. I don't think the FBI OR CIA are the kind of people that are just going to mess around and put up show when their families could be in danger too.
What I mean is that some people think there will be another attack. Bin Ladin has sent those videos, but in my opinion hes just trying to scare us.
Well, he my be just bluffing, but the CIA or FBI aren't going to take any chances. Like I said in another post. This is the first time America has been attack on her own soil, so the FEDS are going to do everything they can to make sure that doesn't happen again. Believe me they are not putting on a show. Everyone is mad as it is that they can not find Bin Ladin in the first place. They wouldn't put of a show to make us even madder. I mean come on America lost thousands of people. They want this war to be over just as much as we do.

This entire thing is a war of oppinion, And by the looks of things, the US is loosing. So far all we see on the news is This US convoy getting hit by a roadside bomb, (made by Local insurgents, not al kaeda), and that riot in this city incited by anti american hatred.
Really, it's just another vietnam all over again.

For some people, six years is not that long. You'll find your sense of time is different when you're older. To someone who was in sixth grade then and just graduated eleventh grade, it may seem like an eternity. But, to you the Clinton Administration must seem like ancient history.
I remember 6th and 11th grade seeming pretty far apart, too, when I look back at my own memory record. My sense of time has accellerated as I have gotten older, and I think this is pretty usual. 2000 and 2005 seem a lot closer together to me than 1985 and 1990, even though logically I now they're the same temporal distance.
This difference in sense of time may be one of the many reasons why generation gaps persist. Kids wonder why their parents won't seem to "get over" past events. (My father to this day is resentful of the Japanese for deeds done sixty years ago.) Adults in turn fail to understand just how much social trends really can change in only five years. What's sad is, I don't think this generation gap has to be there. And, I feel the fault and responsibility lies with the adults. We're the ones who should remember what it was like to be younger, with a sense of slower time. God knows I still do, and I can't understand why so many others can't, even though they're so preoccupied with trying to stay young.
So, the question then should be, at what point should enough people have recovered that a movie is considered "in good taste"? Several factors come into forming an opinion. I oppose censorship, which logically means I should favor allowing release at any time, like it personally or not. But, there is no denying that the first year or so was too close psychologically. I should oppose use of the event in movies for political gain, but I can't without being a hypocrite, because I thought Fahrenheit 9/11 was well-done, and it's blatantly politically motivated, and director Michael Moore is up-front and honest about his intentions with it. (Fahrenheit 9/11 may be the first movie to depict the event in cinema, even if only in audio. The screen was blacked out when sound samples from news accounts were played.)
There's the artistic factor. A movie that makes fun of September 11th--it's going to be awhile before that comes out. Maybe around 2020, when the generation currently in fetal development wants to get back at their parents today for harping on them for things like protesting laws against public nudity or taking away their Playstation 8. But, one that honors firefighters and police officers--bring it on. Some of us want, dare I say, need to see it today.
Ultimately, the studios are motivated by making a profit. There's nothing wrong with this; that's their job. A studio that isn't interested in profits is a piss-poor studio that won't be around very long. They'll release it when the time is right for it to make money. And, it makes money when people want to see it. So, for all the bad reputation that money as a motivator has, it's actually a useful measuring guide for social trends.

All things considered, this wasn't even that long ago by a child's perspective. This year will be the 5th aniversary of the tragedy.
One of three things they should have waited for:
1) The new building to be finished.
2) Osama's capture.
3) The end of George W. Bush's presidency.
Consider how long this movie must have been in production too. Take off a few years and they must have been making this movie before Ground Zero was even cleaned up.

Oy vey. I always knew my sense of time was off, but a year? *grumbles* Stupid brain...work will you...
I just don't see what the big deal is. This is a movie, nothing more. Why whine over something no one's making you go see?
Anook: I don't take world history. I take U.S. history. It's one thing to be mad at me for being insensitive. It's completely another to accuse me of being ignorant. You don't know a damn thing about me, or what courses I take in school, so where do you get off thinking you can pull s*** like that? You say my statement was uncalled for but so was yours. "I don't mean to be rude" Yes you do. Don't try and pretend otherwise. It's obnoxious.
The more you push this the more I rant. So my advice would be if you want me to stop, SHUT THE f*** UP. Savvy?

Ok, first thing. I didn't assume you were taking world history. All I said was if your were taking world history then you would know that. I didn't mean you were stupid. I really didn't mean to make it sound that way set. I really thought you were being insnseituve and thats way I got upset.
I meant that you learn the whole thing about this being the first time the U.S has been attacked in world history. Set I don't think your ignorant. I just thought you were being insensitive about that matter.
I'm really sorry for the misunderstanding. You had every right to get upset.
Do you understand all that?
Hey, I wouldn't blame you if you didn't.
I'm not sure If i Understand if myself.

"Had the american Really wanted to stop Bin laden,"
Clinton had osama on a silver platter. Clinton was a dumbass and didn't act.
"the very first time the U.S has been attacked on our own soil. You would know this if you were taking world History in High School. "
Actually, there was that mexican dude in the 30's or whatnot... and the war of 1812 was on american soil.
As for this movie:
First, that movie with the flight was done so after extensive research, plus they contacted the families in question and they said ok.
Second, the timing on this movie is debatable but so long as it sticks to the facts... i'm ok.
