Look at the website!

...but "The Pack" basically means a specific kind of group, so inumerable groups will, can, and do call themselves that.
Perhaps "The Duckies" was not really the best name for our little community here, but it would have been funny, and our name certainly would have stood out.
It still think we should have been more creative with our choice.
...now we are just another one of thousands of groups called "The Pack"...only a fraction of which are online based organizations like our own, or the website in question here.

While "The Duckies" might be a name that is already in use, it certainly isn't one that is already in use for groups that discuss werewolves...whereas "The Pack" currently refers to hundreds of groups that focus on werewolves, wolves, other canines, and other animals to a lesser extent.
So, in the whole grand scheme of things, "The Duckies" wouldn't have set us apart much more than "The Pack" would....but in terms of groups that focus on werewolves and wolves and the like, it MOST DEFINITELY would have.
Also, I like the fact that it was an inside joke...we have a great story behind it and everything...it was special. There's nothing special or unique about "The Pack".

Well, I'm glad we are called, "The Pack." There IS people out there thats into deep into "rubber duckies." If they did a search and found a duckie forum that talks about werewolves instead of duckies, he/she will be confused beyond all reason!!!
I bet some of you guys what that, don't cha?

I could care less if I am a "freak". I don't care what other people think about me. I am me. I am different from the masses of society in unique and profound ways, anyway. Being physically different would trouble me not

I don't think "Duckies" gives a good expression of the main-subject of this board: werewolves.Vuldari wrote:Back when we were first deciding the name for this group, I allways said that "The Pack" was too general, as it is a term that is allready Extensively in use.Kaebora wrote:He's already claimed "The Pack" as his group's name, making me feel violated already.

That's just how it is.
I like "The Pack" more than "Vanishing Twilight" or whatever the other options were, so I'm really not complaining.

We are so much more, as a group, than the main subject of the website.Morkulv wrote:I don't think "Duckies" gives a good expression of the main-subject of this board: werewolves.
The name of our Group should describe US and our attitude and personality.
...I think "Duckies" describes our playful sense of humor pretty well.
It's pure nonsense...which is why I love it...

...though it certainly wasn't the ONLY option. At the time though, I felt that of the options given on that old poll, it was the name that best described "US"...rather than the website.
Right now, we are just named the "GENERIC WEREWOLF FAN GROUP" ...which is boring as hell, and doesn't describe the mood of our community at all.
...I still think we can do better than "THE PACK". ...that's just so...so...the name of EVERY OTHER werewolf fan club in the world.

Yes, I know. "The Pack" is boring and its to common. But I rather have that than a name that seems like it came out of "White Wolf's World of Darkness."Vuldari wrote:

Heh...at least we like to think so.
There's always Googlefight.
http://www.googlefight.com/
But I don't think having The Pack(us) vs. The Pack(others) is going to give us the proper results.

No, we'd have to find some other, specific, entity that calls itself The Pack to be able to get accurate results. And it would have to be the largest one, in order for us to know if we're THE Pack.

Thier are that many boards out thier that just calls themselves the pack.

Werewolves own duckies, so no "Duckies".

I think that this website this thread questions isn't worth analyzing. It's one of hundreds-of-thousands of badly designed websites found across the internet. The mere concept of free hosting has doomed the internets to be consumed by pre-teens with no HTML or 2D Design knowlage. That's what MySpace is for.

Lurking softly, reading your posts, loving your ideas...
