Whoop, quick disclaimer! I wasn't actually advocating closed-mindedness! I was mearly cautioning about a historic trend.
To quote Carl Sagan, or at least paraphrase: We should have both skepticism and imagination. We will not be afraid to speculate, but we will be careful to seperate speculation from fact.
There are volumes of essays supporting open-mindedness. I need not reiterate them. But, I also caution you not to be too open to adopting closed-minded concepts. Being free-thinking should not mean being open to anything that could compromise that freedom of thought.
Yes, it's paradoxical. I know. It's weird. But, trust me on this.
