I hate vamps because of there character. I have never like the snobby, selfish, "I'm-better-then-you" personality. I have never gotten along with anyone with the personality at all. I also don't like how they seemed to evoved over the years to a grey, hairless, beast on the celling of a dark cave to a handsome, pale, man/woman and the werewolf stays a blood thristy mindless beast. It just isn't fair.

Because Vampires Suck!
You can thank Hollywood, I beleive one thing that created this cliche was Underworld, if I'm correct, and seems to now reflect in other movies, including Van Helsing.
I myself don't like Vampires, as the mythical kind, I have a couple 'Vampire' friends. Mainly I'm not into those Goth kids with their weird 'Woe is me my life sucks!' and 'Look at me I think I'm everything and a side of fries because I claim to be a Vampire'. I love the cute ones you can find during halloween time, but I'm just not into them much otherwise. I don't hate them though.

as for vampires I can understand that you people have a problem with the egoistic style, but what about the style you find in most RP's? they are more nice people that kick other peoples a**...
although I have RPed a vampire I prefer a demon because they are much more flexable((plus my demon char has been around so long that now he is almost a demi-god

the vampire vs werewolf thing has been for much longer than underworld, like shadow of the vampire, thats like 30 years older.outwarddoodles wrote:You can thank Hollywood, I beleive one thing that created this cliche was Underworld, if I'm correct, and seems to now reflect in other movies, including Van Helsing.
i think its because its two popular fantasy monsters that they think people wants to see together.
also, i like vampires, but theyve been pretty boring in most movies post-dusk till dawn.

I dont really hate vampires. I hate seeing movies/stories where the vamps control WWs. Werewolves that are slaves/servents to them. Grates on ones nerves after a while. Vampires are really nowhere as near as powerful as a werewolf. Vamps just suck blood and live a really long time as long as they stay clear of sun and stakes. Also the snobish, I'm-better-than-you, attitude they tend to have. Interview with a Vampire was a damn god movie though

Yeah, i tire of the aristocratic vampire archetype.
Thats why the Vampires i've ever RP'd are...well...barbaric...and such. Not generically evil per se, but not some seductive creature of the night. They're all about force, and have *no* qualms about ripping out someone's throat if they get in the way.
The kind of Vampire that stares at the aristocratic Vasmpires, then shoves a sword in the gut while they give a long-winded speach and robs the place.

No, I'm with you there, Searif. I have no problem with seeing them all over the place (movies, books, TV, art, even songs). Though I think some people go to far when they think they're vampires...hah.Searif Bogard wrote:it seems that im the only one here who does not hate vampires

Me three. I like vampires. Not as much as I like werewolves, but I do. And well, I've yet to meet one of these 'would-be-vampires' in person, but I've met a few pretty laughable goths.iolarnula wrote:No, I'm with you there, Searif. I think he was talking about the fictional hatred between them, not the hatred between their respective fans.
And while Hollywood was probably first to set Dracula versus the Wolf-Man, it was probably White Wolf Games that set the emnity in stone, so to speak. Werewolf: The Apocalypse and Vampire: The Masquerade were so incredibly popular in the 1990s that "werewolves and vampires are deadly enemies" simply became part of the popular consciousness. At least, among those who noticed vampires and werewolves at all. I'm pretty sure it kinda was beneath the notice of Ma and Pa Kettle in Oklahoma.

Mreh. I don't hate vampires. But sometimes the stories or movies I read/see really wear down on my nerves. Depending on the story I actually really like the vampiric characters (Cirque du Freak is one series. I love it.) And I think when they think they're vampires it's sorta the same as Therians. Just that they identify with a vampire instead of an animal.Merrypaws wrote:Me three. I like vampires. Not as much as I like werewolves, but I do. I don't think vampires and werewolves hate each other (if they were real). If anything, real vampires and werewolves would be allies, not enemies, because they have enough in common (allies, not one subordinate to the other.)
As to why WW fans and vamp fans don't get along, WW fans are pissed that vamp fans have mindlessly gone along with Hollywood's interpretation of what vampires are like and what powers they have, without ever even looking at what vampires were historically like. Also, as I said in another thread, you may notice that vampire and werewolf fans are different types of people (this refers to people that are one or the other, not both). WW fans, in my experience, just tend to be better people overall.
