This is the place for discussion and voting on various aspects of werewolf life, social ideas, physical appearance, etc. Also a place to vote on how a werewolf should look.
Wolves have scent glands all over their bodies, including at the base of the tail, between toes, and in the eyes, genitalia, and skin. Pheromones secreted by these glands identify each individual wolf. A dominant wolf will "rub" his or her body against subordinate wolves to mark such individuals as being members of a particular pack. Wolves may also "paw" dirt to release pheromones in lieu of urine marking.
So, do you think werewolves(in gestalt form) would have all the same scent glands at the same places as a regular wolf? Or would they only have a couple? None? Would a WW alpha rub against fellow pack mates to mark the others for that unique pack smell?
A personaly think, Regular wolf stuff=What a WW would be like
MMMMMMMM.............I don't think a werewolf in gestalt form would rub against another werewolf.
In pure wolf form I think they would, but not in gestalt form.
I could care less if I am a "freak". I don't care what other people think about me. I am me. I am different from the masses of society in unique and profound ways, anyway. Being physically different would trouble me not
To me, I don't think the werewolf would obtain scent glands in either gestalt or human form. I don't see the necessity for scents glands in those forms.
Humans have a unique smell without the use of glands. That is why dogs are able to pursue and track escapees. If dogs are able to recognize the scent unique to that person, I don't see why werewolves wouldn't be able to distinguish their own kinds via non-glandular methods either.

Thats my thought on the matter, anyways.
Actually, Humans DO have these scent glands, too: only they're part of the Sweat glands in our skin.

I simply meant separate glands all together like wolves and other wildlife. Since they are already interlaced with our sweat glands, what would be the point of acquiring even more scent glands?
Edit: I am aware that humans have a system for scent. However, I can see my prior post obviously misconstrues my intentional point, so I apologize for that.

Hmm, I like the thought of them rubbing in gestalt. Much more affectionate in an animal type way. But thats just my opinoin.
You are the only light there is for yourself my friend

I imagine them having sent glands to tell who's who.
But werewolves rubbing against each other may not happen. If the werewolf grew up in the human world, i can see the werewolf having a homophobic reaction if that happens, but if they grew up in a pure werewolf society that may be widely accepted.
Oh like you'd object to a pretty girl doing the same thing.
It might depend on the werewolf in question. Some people wouldn't mind. Others don't like to be touched. It's all a matter of personal preference, really.
