The desire to document everything you do has really gone out there (to the point of production blogs and other resources)... wow. It kinda takes the mystery out of some things - but at the same time, approaches another group in a free way...

I'm kind of the opposite. I give hints on progress, and little tidbits of model screenshots, then blow the audience away with a finished peice more spectacular than they thought could happen. Keeping things secret is key until the product is released. Keeping a log of your progress on the side and releaseing it after the finished production is a good idea though. "In The Making..." documentaries are cool.
