Perhaps lycanthropy can stop it by having the immune system attack the plaque?
(Even if it could, I strongly doubt that it would be able to reverse the brain damage)
How species-specific is Bovine Spongeform Encephalopathy anyway?
Tragically, BSE is not terribly host-specific, as the prion can cause the human-version of the disease, known as "Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease."
And BSE was originally from sheep, where the disease called "scrapies," where infected sheep would become listless and do nothing but scrape themselves against a post, as well as wither away and die.

It depends on what sort of brain disease we're talking about, really.
If it was something like hydadtic cysts of pork tapeworms, then I don't think one would worry too much.
If it was something like having a mining spike blasted through your nose, then I would think that you would have a lot to worry about, if you still had your cognitive thinking abilities, that is.

Edit: And, posibly this being pointed towards the smart Scott, whats in the virus that makes regeneration better anyway? Is there a type of protein that does this?
regeration also means to remove physical defect.

Um what kind of physical defect?
I really doubt that hyper regeneration will zap your moles for you, or unkink your clubfoot.

New & Improved Lycanthropy: Gets your whites whiter and your brights brighter!

I figure the regeration will only affect things linked to shapeshifting.
I don't suffer from lycanthropy, I enjoy every minute of it! Image

And any damage to body as well as some or most defects, I think the regeneration should get rid of half of defects or maybey a little more
